How successful was your company at drilling for oil in Texas? You make it sound easy. You must have made millions drilling for oil in Texas. It's just like digging for gold (in Alaska, or South America, or wherever). You only hear about the ones who make it rich, but many more die trying. It is hard work, and it requires some luck. It isn't a plus on his resume that he wasn't successful at it, but it doesn't mean he was stupid because he was not successful. It is likely that he was trying to hard to hit a home run, which is probably common to people with extremely successful parents. No one says that Babe Ruth was a bad baseball player because he struck out too much.

Lots of Americans do not travel internationally. There is plenty to do or see within the U.S. You could argue that only a narcissistic, insecure megalomaniac (Obama) would feel the need to not only travel internationally as much as possible (vacationing in other countries while his own country is $17 trillion in debt), but to kick off his campaign speeches in Germany to a worldwide audience.

Bin Laden was not famous or feared before 9-11. Terrorism was not a major concern in the U.S., with no major foreign terror attacks on U.S. soil since 1993. It speaks volumes to ones small-mindedness to apply 20-20 hindsight to what someone should have known, and then declare him an idiot for not knowing it.

GWB was not an ideal (or evena good) president by any means, but he was probably brighter (and obviously harder working) than Obama. Obama was not even smart enough to schedule more than one meeting in several years on his signature legislation! I'm guessing that GWB was smart enough to attend more than one meeting on the Gulf War. Intelligence is not their main problem, however. They are lacking in vision and wisdom, and their philosophical approach to investing money and preparing for the future is not based in any reality.

Isn't Harvard the "university" that hands out professorships to blond women who (falsely) claim to be of native American ancestry? That sounds very merit-based--not!

No fan of Warren at all but she definitely had the resume to teach at Harvard when she got there.

I'm guessing that the vast majority of applicants for teaching jobs at Harvard have impressive resumes. Warren had more than just an impressive resume, she had a liberal feel-good story. And not only did no one at Harvard check the story out, they went on to tout the "fact" that they had a Native American professor. So it wasn't something that was overlooked on her application and Harvard could say they had no knowledge of Warren's claim. It was front and center.

I'm sorry, you implied it could not have been merit based, which I think is a bit hyperbolic.
