While W made some decisions I disagree with...

This does not surprise me at all.

"I am not kidding. You are quite an intelligent group. Don’t take it personally, but President Bush is smarter than almost every one of you. Were he a student here today, he would consistently get “HP” (High Pass) grades without having to work hard, and he’d get an “H” (High, the top grade) in any class where he wanted to put in the effort.

For more than six years it was my job to help educate President Bush about complex economic policy issues and to get decisions from him on impossibly hard policy choices. In meetings and in the briefing materials we gave him in advance we covered issues in far more depth than I have been discussing with you this quarter because we needed to do so for him to make decisions.

President Bush is extremely smart by any traditional standard. He’s highly analytical and was incredibly quick to be able to discern the core question he needed to answer. It was occasionally a little embarrassing when he would jump ahead of one of his Cabinet secretaries in a policy discussion and the advisor would struggle to catch up. He would sometimes force us to accelerate through policy presentations because he so quickly grasped what we were presenting.

I use words like briefing and presentation to describe our policy meetings with him, but those are inaccurate. Every meeting was a dialogue, and you had to be ready at all times to be grilled by him and to defend both your analysis and your recommendation. That was scary."

Gwb took a company bankrupt while drilling for oil in Texas, take takes a special talent. Despite privilege he never traveled overseas before becoming president, that speaks to a lack of curiosity (tragically confirmed when rather than read the NIA's threat assessment "bin Ladin determined to attack inside US" he went on vacation. He averaged a C- at Harvard. Like plain he admitted to not reading news and policy publications.

    Smart as box of rocks.

I bet GWB is jealous of a lot of people. Now he can't go overseas even if he wanted to due to threat of arrest.

    LOL.

How smart do you have to be to go on vacation rather than taking time to heed the warnings of an impending bin Ladin attack?

I don't buy it for a minute. He could have cultivated a good ol' boy image without sounding like a complete imbecile.

you know bush's grades? but have no idea of Obama's at any school he attended.
Some people are not public speakers but are smart. Being able to stand in front of people and speaking is not a sign of intelligence. Look at Washington DC for proof.

funny stuff. if obama messes up on a speaking engagement, it's the most 'awfulest' thing ever!!!
but that other guy, who's name i shall not utter, since apparently it upsets you righties, turns reg'lar english into a word salad, but that's okey dokey.

i want to add, that, with your persistence in ignoring that past fella, the one before obama, and his record, even though it had profound significance for whoever proceeded him, if a republican were to win the WH next time, it's gonna be a lot of fun for me to always answer with 'bbbbbbbbbbbbbb obama!!!!'

I'm not sure you can legitimately complain about someone talking about Bush in a thread about Bush. ;)

Neither Bush nor Obama are geniuses. The only POTUS who came close to being a genius was Thomas Jefferson. It's a good thing politicians aren't geniuses, too, because if they were, they'd have to have a competition to crown an Antichrist.

Politics can get you positions in college as well as the real world. Being the editor of Harvard Review means he only knew someone who named him in that position. I am sure they did not give an iq test for it.
His recent press interviews with Merkel had more time allocated to pauses and mumbling than the spoken language.
