Gene defends Tebow as somone with values. Not the kind you pay for with $, but the kind of values we have to continue to fight for. I loved Kiss as a kid. A guy who spits blood and fire! How cool. My first LP was Kiss' "Dressed to Kill". Yeah, I am old and they're not very good. Let's hope Tim doesn't hear too much about Gene's tongue painting skills on women.

Simmons has a 12 inch tongue, plays in the coolest band of all time, and married Shannon Tweed. Dude seriously has it going on.

I couldn't stand KISS as a kid. I remember this girl who sat behind me in one of my high school classes who was always doodling KISS emblems all over her binders and papers and feeling rather sorry for her poor taste in music. She was hot though, so I just smiled at her. I will give Gene honorable mention for "I Was Made For Lovin' You", I did in fact like that song, but otherwise they are a gimmicky band of no significance to me.

Agreed. They were always very overrated. They made a career of style over substance, but whatever, to each their own.

Paul Stanley and Ace Frehley were the engine drove Kiss. I Loved them as a kid. When the makeup and gimmicks went away Gene was useless.

    I grew up listening to KISS. ( I'm 55 )
He'll, to me, at the time, they were the hard rock that I never really liked.
However, that one album, live album, was bad ass to sing along to.
    Firehouse...Detroit Rock City.....
Saw them in convert once on New Year's Eve, they certainly put on an ear ringing theatrical show, for the time.
Whatever one thinks about their music......if you've ever watched a few of the "family jewels" episodes , then you would, most likely have a different pov regarding Gene Simmons.
Although he and Shannon never married until recently, they managed to stay together and raise two decent kids. I don't believe either one has ever been in trouble with the law.
The whole how many women he screwed thing....I think he sincerely regrets some of that stuff and nearly lost Shannon because of it.
Also, the dude is a marketing machine, an astute business man.
There were a few episodes where Gene traveled back to Israel to visit his fathers grave and see family he had long abandoned.

Personally......I think there is a lot more to Gene Simmons than KISS

I misread the title as Richard Simmons and thought that would be the kiss of death to his career.

KISS makes no apologies for being exactly what they are. A mediocre rock band with a bass player who is a marketing mogul

Mediocre may even be a stretch. Without the gimmicks, they never get out of the garage.

I used to enjoy Kiss show-wise, even went to a concert, but knew they weren't very good, lol.

Gene Simmons defending Tim truly shows how Tim's football dreams have crashed and burned.

Never was a kiss fan. But I was a fan of Shannon Tweed, especially her parts in the Movie "Hot Dog"

I was already old enough to know better and happy about that. I am also old enough to have grown up with real rock bands and artist.

Paul and Gene won't mind Timmy sermon time if he wins and sells seats. Tim will continue persuing his lifelong dream as a NFL QB anyway. I just think it's ironic and cool that someone sticks up for Tim and what he represents.

BTW...I was 8! Dudes wearing crazy make up trying to be a band....it was cool. It isn't Metallica but Gene is still kicking it at 63. I would think his tounge has hair on it by now with all that twat he's been around.

I went to a thing called Tampa Jam way back when, and Kiss was first to play. No one had heard of them. Someone told us there was a band with a fire gimmick, we missed them. We were backstage and I had my camera as I was taking stage pics of the top acts -- Johnny Winter, ZZ Top. There was a killer buffet and we sat with these guys who said they'd opened the show. It was Kiss.

They were young, of course, and seemed like your basic longhairs from New York. Nice guys. We ate and drank and chatted for about an hour, mostly about motorcycles, pop festivals and other people's music.

The whole time my camera was hanging on my chair. They weren't in makeup, of course. Imagine what that photo would have been worth a few years later. Doh!

Anyway, I never liked their music but people who do like hearing that story. A few years ago Gene Simmons was sitting behind us at the Greek Theatre in L.A. with his gorgeous wife. Plenty of fans came up to him, and he was nice to all of them, seemed like he was still a regular guy. A very rich regular guy ...

Lois Griffin, is that you?

Anyway, KISS... absolutely no talent musically, but I still love Detroit Rock City.
