They had a lot of chances this game.
Incredible effort on the mound after that first Inning.
Seeing the submariner in the pen, I am reminded of the UF-Bama game about a decade ago with Pat McMahon. Faulkenbach was pitching and Bama brought every lefty available to the plate and rallied. I swear the bat boy was a lefty.
You need lefties against this type of delivery. The ball moves into you.
Martin struck out on 3 pitches; the last pitch was probably 2 feet wide of the plate... can't believe he swung at that, it even started outside the strike zone.
Well even a lefty struggled.
Gators lose 3-2
Thanks for PBP GatorGrowl
You play 60 games to put yourself in this position and have the enormous advantage; only to lay a huge steamer in the very 1st game... if not for the softball team this would be one lousy way to kick off a weekend for Gators fans.
Ugh what is that 5 post season losses in a row?
Gators with nobody to blame but themselves. Shore's location was so bad in the first inning that his breaking ball was actually hanging above the strike zone, and they left the bases loaded twice. That's all it takes in the postseason.
Next game starts in less than 12 hours.
That seems right. Now UF has to win 4 straight. No easy task.
They typically push times back in such a case. I expect the start will move about 2 hours.
I don't follow college baseball at all for various reasons, but had to check out some of Florida's stats since they looked like they have a good team.
But seeing that their run differential was only +50 for a team with their record? Eh, seemed like the luck dragons were on their side this year.
