Thought it may get lost in a stand alone thread.....but great news that UF has picked up a solid verbal from one of, if not the top ranked 2018 player in the country, Lukas Greif from Indiana. This is the kind of difference maker the program has needed to get over that final hump. Very exciting future for the program.
This on the heels of a high level and 3 deep class for 2017, with equally highly ranked Oliver Crawford and top 25 Andres Andrade and Duarte Vale. Combined with the returning talent this should be a very deep and talented roster next year.

And the future looks blindingly bright as UF looks to now have a commitment from Sam Riffice from California. He is the number 1 ranked 2018 player, and has been top ranked in his age group every year listed. This is like when the women landed Lauren embry and Allie will. If this all works out uf would have far and away the most talent they have ever assembled

Thanks for posting. HUGE get for the program would be an understatement!

Definitely exciting to think about where this program could be in 2 years time - hope it will be similar to the rise we've seen from men's golf behind it's wave of recruiting success the past few years.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but is there any chance he goes pro?

Honestly know nothing about him in that regard. I actually asked about Greif and was told he will go to school.
One thing I have noticed, most guts that go ahead and commit seem to end up in school. Those that want to turn pro usually hold off and make a late decision one way or the other without picking a school before.
UF women did get burned with Allie Kiick who got hot summer before she enrolled. She probably should have gone to school.

Much less push these days for kids to go pro early. The pro game has become much more physical and it takes time for most of these players to develop. The fact that the national training center is now located in Orlando, and most of the best kids live there, has not hurt Florida's recruiting efforts for the best players. However former Oklahoma head tennis coach John Roddick, taking the UCF director of tennis position could complicate matters some into the future. As UCF now has dedicated courts for practice and matches at the new Lake Nona National Tennis Campus. I would also think that Virginia's coach Boland leaving Virginia at the end of the year and becoming director of USA junior tennis, will bolster the move to keep players in college rather than having them turn pro out of the 18 and under division.

Worked out nice, they got to play early, so more rest than their next opponent, minimal energy expended at the coolest time of day.

Were competitive on most courts vs uga when they faced off recently....but couldn't close the deal in any tight matches.
Imo a top 16 hosting spot is secure, now playing to improve seeding and get a winnable match in round of 16
