We all know the saying: there are lies, damn lies, and statistics. Well, stats don't lie and here are the stats: Will Muschamp stresses defense and TOP. Lets see what TOP has done for us. 2011: Total offense= 105 in the country. Time of possession= 28:43 good enough for 93rd in the country 2012: Total offense= 104 in the country. Time of possession= 32:35 good enough for 22nd in the country. That is a 71 place jump in TOP and only a 1 place jump in Total offense. Also in 2012: yards/game = 334 This 334 divided by 32:35 of TOP= moving the ball at 10.32 yards per minute of game (not real-time minutes). Here is 2013: Total offense= 113 in the country. Time of possession= 35:39 good enough for 1st in the country A 21 place jump in TOP and a 9 place regression in total offense. Yards per game 334.6 a 0.6 yard/game improvement from 2012. Divide this 334.6 by time of possession and we move at 9.45 yards per minute of game clock (not real-time). The nuts and bolts: we possess the ball for FOUR MORE MINUTES than we did in 2012 and we move the ball slower and only manage to get an extra 0.6 yards a game. That is an extra 1.8 feet a game. That is 21.5 inches a game. That is less than two Subway foot-long subs a game. A football is approximately 11 inches long so this means we move LESS THAN TWO LENGTHS OF A FOOTBALL MORE THAN IN 2012. This screams of absolute offensive incompetence and ineptitude. Four minutes of extra TOP gain us 21.5 inches of extra yardage. Let that sink in for a second. Tell me now what you think of Will Muschamp.
