According to Coach White yesterday Gak is not practicing at all although they are using him in games. Says his problems may include rehabilitation in the off-season. Doesn't sound real promising for the rest of the year.

No wonder he looks so slow this year as compared to last. Sheesh.

Knees. The most difficult of all the numerous joint problems. If we were slinkies we could get away with out those joints and other mobile bone structures that cause so incredibly many problems throughout our lives, starting from the top - Neck, Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, Finger, Back, Hip, Knee, Ankle, Toe.

That is a lot of places you can mess up. Who on Earth Designed this Body. Thomas Edison would probably have been frowning if he saw it come off his assembly line.

Would be nice if some reporter in the audience had the inspiration to ask, "Gee, Coach, what is the nature of Gorjok's knee injury? Why will he need off-season rehab? Is there joint or ligament damage" I seriously doubt that falls under student privacy rules.

At any rate, looks like I was wrong to assume his chief problem was a low-revving motor. Feel badly for the kid.

Yup, Coach indicated a couple of weeks ago that his knees swell up after every game. I really had hopes he was going to make a real impact this year. Hard to get in the game flow if the wheels are broke.

Too bad for the team and especially Gak. Not sure if there will be a way to get those knees healthy. I'm sure they have tried a lot of things.

I take MSM for mine which works fantastic for me. I couldn't think about running without it

Hopefully Gak's situation will prompt the coaches to utilize Bassett somehow in every game from here on out, or at least until another serviceable big man comes off the injured list.

It was written somewhere (Brockway?) that he can play through for a while and then will need surgery at year’s end. Too bad. Would be an ideal redshirt situation except we need him too badly with Eggs and Stokes out.

I don't think we should be delaying the surgery. If he's hurting so much that 8 minutes stresses his knees, get the surgery. Egor has proven he can slide to the 4 and defend any power forward in college basketball if needed. Gak is pretty much on par with Bassett right now so I don't see the reasoning behind us needing him.

From Kevin Brockways post game sidebar in the Gvl Sun

With Florida sophomore center Gorjok Gak suffering a concussion in the first half, Florida’s frontcourt depth is now precariously thin.

“I don’t know how we’re going to practice here the next few days,” White said. “We’ve got seven scholarship players the last couple of weeks in practice and now we’ll be down to six.”

White said it was too early to tell the severity of Gak’s concussion, which occurred while fighting for a rebound with Ole Miss forward Marcanvis Hymon.

“(Freshman forward) Chase Johnson has had concussion symptoms for a couple of months and you just hope Gak responds better to some time off and we can get him back a lot quicker than we got Chase back,” White said. “We are really beat up in the front line.”

I saw that and had the same question because in a different part of the same story Coach said
“I don’t know how we’re going to practice here the next few days,” White said. “We’ve got seven scholarship players the last couple of weeks in practice and now we’ll be down to six.”
that would mean they were not counting on CJ in practice

Has he? I wouldn't go that far. We need all the healthy bodies we can get.

Ultimately, it really depends on the injury. If he can "play through it" in spot minutes, without risking long term damage, then we need all available bodies. I assume that is the scenario here, and that they aren't talking delaying about a major knee reconstruction or anything that would jeopardize future seasons. Obviously you don't want him risking long term damage, but he wouldn't be allowed to play if that were the case.

Maybe once Eggs get back (if he does), or even if Stokes can get in there, then maybe Gak can be shut down.

only 6 scholarship players? Who are they since I think we have more than that who are healthy (Hayes, Stone, Koulechov, Choizza, Allen, Bassett, Okauru, Hudson).
