I spoke with a friend who is an FSU insider today. He said that FSU is very worried about its future. They cancelled a celebration scheduled for Saturday because they are devoting full time to last minute recruiting. They are worried that the DC departure will significantly impact commitments. I just thought Id share this as it always feels good to hear this type of news about the Noles, especially after a season like this one.

I think the combination of Pruitt leaving, and the way he left didn't do them any favors.

I'm glad they are worried, but they are kings of the mountain right now, and their recruiting isn't apparently suffering too much. Wish them a lot of bad luck, though.

Was wondering why they cancelled the celebration 3 days before it was scheduled to occur to push it to some as of now unplanned later date. It was clear their "players' schedules were problematic" excuse wasn't the real reason, and that explanation makes a lot of sense.

Better check the locker room and pawn shops....a player must've stole the crystal ball....probably hid it in a Dillard's bag.

I read that it was more to do with giving all the people who traveled so much a little more time. I'm not worried about the future. Whomever becomes DC is walking into a gold mine right now.

One of our local news organizations said it was because of road construction/lane closures. When that came on, I was thinking, "What a load of crap, there is no construction over by the university!?!?!?!" I think it had more to do with a lack of interest more than anything.

I ran into a big money f$u booster the other day (former player as well) and he was none too happy with f$u at the moment. Whoever runs their department that takes care of things like BCSNC tickets, scheduling, etc., would be looking for a job if it were up to this gentlemen. He was unenthusiastic about winning the game, and when I brought it up, he got pretty angry about it.

    The reason?

They didn't get him tickets to the game or get him booked at the hotel and he wound up missing the game.

A buddy of mine who went there in the late 80s and early 90s (hey BP!! :) ) went to the game and a day before was trying to sell an extra ticket a buddy of his had.

Despite winning the title, most know they were lucky to win that game and did so against a good but not great team.

All that said, I wish we had their problems.

they have a cake schedule and may well get to the playoff-but then they might have to play 2 really good teams back to back and that might cause them some problems

No - it will be Jameis who cannot leave - otherwise TPD may just "find" that lost evidence. They own him now.

To be fair, it's been a while since they had to worry about such issues. Just a little out of practice.

The further away they push the date, the more the excitement will wear off and fewer fans will show up. Most of the fans are driving, so I really don't buy the excuse.

There's no reason for fans to be worried. FSU will be just fine. This has nothing to do with fans.

I suspect the real issue is that the coaches sense some of the recruits, especially on defense, may be wavering a little as well as some of the guys they're still recruiting because they don't know the defensive coaching situation. Sounds to me like Fisher thinks it's more important right now to focus his time and effort on getting the new DC in place quickly and then using the NC celebration as a time to bring recruits in. That's just my opinion and I don't really blame them.

    I don't.

They had to compromise a rape investigation to keep NC hopes alive.

They need a MNC, to keep enough interest in their program to be profitable, let alone competitive with us.

Their FB program needs tax dollars to remain viable.

They need to play in the ACC, to compete for MNC.

Their biggest problems, are what makes their program what it is--and they scarcely even know it.

Ignorance in dealing with their 'problems', and of what their problems actually are, is apparently what makes you 'wish [you] had their problems'.

I prefer our 'problems'. Temporary. Eminently fixable.

Well on the way to being completely remedied.

    GO GATORS!!

You must be kidding me. What are you smoking? Does your friend have paranoia issues. They have their head coach back, the number 1 qb back, over half their starters back, the best kicker in the country, their recruitment classes have been in the top 10 the last 4 or 5 years, they have the no 1 class at this moment. They only play 2 difficult games a year. I would LOVE to have these worries. Last year they replaced 6 coaches and went undefeated. We were 4-8, lost three coaches, losing two 5-star recruits to them, have no offense or field goal kicker and they are worried. Give me a break!
