I don't understand why Jacob Coker didn't go to Alabama in the first place. First, he is from Mobile and now everything I'm reading about this seems to indicate it's a great for him to play for the Crimson Tide.

They did not have to buy him off. In fact, the kid is a great kid and his family is a great family and would not be bought off. Also, if you knew his family, you would know they probably have more $ than the average rich person does anyway.

Just because you are on an Internet message board and hate Alabama you do not have the right to assassinate his character.

FSU offered him early while Saban waited until around January to offer. He stated that he really trusted coach Fisher and coach Craig, but didn't have a relationship with the Bama coaches. Here's what he said right after he finally got a Bama offer.

"It's great because it's Alabama, which is a solid school. But I have don't really have a strong relationship with those coaches like I do with Florida State. FSU is just the best fit for me and that's where I will be signing to on February 2."

Well, obviously he has his regrets now.

I don't see why he would. Got to learn under coach Fisher, won a ring, got a degree, and now will get to compete for the starting spot at Alabama. He wasn't going to start over McCarron so it's not as if he's lost any time.

I doubt it. FSU was his only BCS offer as a QB for a long while in the recruiting process. Coker played in the Wing T in HS, so there wasn't much to go on for his abilities. Its likely if Fisher doesn't invite him to camp and extend a scholarship to him, he's likely playing in FCS right now.

I don't expect 2007 Tebow, but I think our QB(s), just need to play ball - both running and passing, and play smart.

QBs that get hurt, usually get hurt in the pocket, and that's what happened to JD last year. Better pass protection, better pocket presence and a good "clock" in the QB's head will probably go the furthest to helping our QBs avoid injury.
