One of my favorite songs from Dolly. And I think she does an admirable job of performing it. I don't follow any of her shenanigans so I don't know about that stuff.

How many went to rock concerts in the sixties? Ever seen Tina Turner live? She would put some of these gals to shame with her sexual moves on the stage and with the microphone stand.

My dad said his dad thought their generation was going to hell in a handbasket too. My dad was born in 1917 and my granddad in 1884 0r 86. Can't remember right this minute which one. You have to know Noah thought there was little hope for the next generation after what his son pulled.

I agree, and I envy them on the casual sex.

I agree that each generation thinks it is better and smarter than the next.

    Harder-working, too. That's a pretty common one.

My only regret is finishing college right before texting became the norm. Making casual phone calls "just to talk" to girls or pre-planning answering machine messages was the worst.

I did see Ike and Tina live. I agree. I guess the only difference then was you had to go the show to see it.

Funny you should say that. I've had more casual sex than both of my kids combined at their age. They like meanigful relationships. Plus my daughter is more accomplished at her age than I was. Of course I had to work to go through college.

It's not that kids are exposed to "more" these day, it is the crassness and meaninglessness of what is being put out there. People keep saying kids mature faster these days. BS. How many "kids" have jobs, get married, are self-sufficient, etc. by the time they are 18 or 19 like their great grandparents were. Maturity is not being able to view porn on the internet. For whatever reason, a sector of our population encourages the postponement of adulthood where a young person would understand maturity is choosing not to view porn on the internet and being productive.

And not every generation is more "liberal" than the last. As a child of the 80s, I can attest that our generation was nowhere near as "liberal" as the children of the late 60s and 70s. Then again, disco had many disastrous effects ; )

This is a very funny and entertaining thread. Not partisan for a change. I'm not sure any of us are big enough to get our had around generational differences, except on a pretty superficial level, but fun to try. I see both reason for hope and despair and try to think the former.
