Not sure why he left and don't care but nice to see him writing again for GC. I always enjoyed his comments from the past. Glad to see his comments once again.

I remember being at a Gator Country gathering at the Sugar Bowl a few years ago. On the way it, I read where Matt Elam had committed to FSU. I mentioned this to Franz, his response, "don't worry, he will be a Gator." See he doesn't know what he is talking about.

    Welcome Back.

Known Franz since 2000 when I met him at a party at CDG8tr's house. He knows Gator sports like nobody else.

Franz went to 247 from here. I think that was the second or third time he's drifted off with another group trying to compete with GC but he always seems to end up back here.

GLAD to have the Man back with us...

His inside info and his wit are tops...
Sometimes, his write ups would be the highlight of my Sports day!

Also met him at a bar in Gainesville... very open and willing to talk about Gator Sports.

I have met some other Gator beat writers (from other sites) over the last 35 years at venues and at various stadiums across the SEC and sometimes they don't give you the time of day.
They want to act like they are the, "All-Knowing, All-Seeing Eye Of Gator Sports"...and they feel like your time with them is not that valuable.

Franz with sit down and respectfully talk with you.

I was about to post a new thread saying that the 'Notes for the Day' is AWESOME -- exactly why I subscribe to Gator Country! Then saw this one.

'Notes' is just a great summary every day of what's up in the Gator world.

    Thanks, Franz.

BTW, Franz -- Back in the 70s, Jack Hairston hired me at the Gainesville Sun, back when Mick Elliott was there. You are right -- a legend in sports journalism.

    Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.
    Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.
Who'd have thought they'd lead ya
Back here where we need ya
Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've got him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

It's so nice that he decided to come back here instead of going back to 247. GatorCountry is family. 247 did pretty good in getting Goldklamp, but Goldklamp is no Franz
