Once you get a technical, it’s time to shut up and coach your guys. He’s passionate but he’s really struggling to keep his composure. I think he got a little spoiled with the talent he had last year.

Frank, you are not where you need to be, emotionally speaking. You need a mentor so that you can realize your full potential.

Talk to your football coach. He knows how to deal with poor officiating and playing. Honest.

He's whining about foul calls??? Hell his crappy team wouldn't have broken the 40 point barrier if not for a terrible last second foul called on a rebound. Whine about your bad shooting and lack of rebounding. That is what cost you the game.

I'm going to take what will probably be the unpopular stance saying while Coach Martin deserved the fine for violating policy - I'm glad he had the stones to complain about officiating.

Even if his complaint centered around his getting the Technical, "technically" it's still complaining about officiating. ;)

That's something we do here every week.......:D

I don't see how any recruit would want to play for him.
Players look like they are in constant state of fear.

They were called for 15 fouls; we were called for 16 fouls. How lopsided should it have been for it to have made a difference in the game?

Well of course I'm shocked that his technical ploy and ref-riding didn't work.
    :p
OTOH I agree that the refs blew several calls in this game. For example - they missed several fouls that they shoulda called on Silva, and at least once UF (pretty sure it was Stone) got wrongly called for a foul that shoulda been a flagrant foul against USCe player. Of course, I doubt those calls were among Mr. Martin's concerns.

Lol..but in the tournament last year he was painted as a saint and it almost seemed like UF was the bad guy for some reason before our elite 8 game. Glad that narrative is starting to change. Sheesh.

That was pretty apparent on TV. He doesn't just give his guys a quick word on the way to the bench. He stands over them while they are sitting and berates them. That can't build confidence.

A Worthless pseudo-fine - So small as to be utterly miniscule.

Well people, I don't know what your salaries are, but I can tell you that relative to his Income, that is about 1% or including last year's Final 4 Bonus, 8 tenths of one percent fine. For comparison if your salary were the following those fines would be the following equivalencies (his Base: 2.45 $Million,
    Bonus: 3.2 $Million):

    Base Pct Bonus Pct
    $60,000 $612 $471
    $50,000 $510 $382
    $45,000 $459 $353 - Median American Household Income
    $40,000 $408 $314
    $30,000 $306 $235

In other words, for a family with a Median Income, that would be a $460 fine, or if you have comparable bonsus, a mere $350.

Like I said, this wouldn't stop anyone from doing anything.

If they really wanted to fine him, it should have been say $500,000, or 20% of his base, which would have been a meaningful fine.

Ancient Chinese Proverb - "If you want to hurt Americans - Hit them HARD in the Pocketbook!"

Ohh, by the way, Coach White's base salary is $1,884,699 with only a $300,000 max bonus, or only 3/4 of Martin's salary, and the bonus makes that 2/3rds if they both got it. Florida is clearly a CHEAP school, if measley South Carolina can pay that much more.

Was he complaining about the apparent new rule that charges a player with a foul when he hits the opposing players elbow with his face?

You mean Stone getting elbowed in the face and having the foul called on him? Yeah, that was silly.

This is a bit unfair to Frank Martin. In the same interview he also said this: "We got our tails kicked. Officiating had nothing to do with us getting beat today."
His main problem was with one of the refs being allowed to work SEC games despite being an ACC ref. That's mainly why he got fined.
