Play by play announcer....good gig for him.
I liked Sexton and he seems to be a good guy, he reached out to Frank and congratulated him. I thought that showed class. Jags are changing everything and I guess that includes replacing Brian.
I like Frangii but I wish they didn't make this change. Sexton was really good in my opinion and had a fantastic memory for facts.
Maybe it came down to which station broadcasts the games.
Now all they need is a quarterback
And a GM and new owner, and about 56 other players.
Who.... cares... they don't have Tebow!
I was surprised by this as well. I thought Sexton did a great job. It will be strange since Sexton has been the only voice of the Jags in their history. But I guess similar to the transition from David Steele to Mick Hubert for the Gators, I didn't like it at first but Mick "grew on me" for sure.
They have a new owner and a new GM.
Never been impressed by Frangie as a PBP.
Frank will be better...less drama with his announcing...
I listen to Frank from time to time but have never heard him do play by play. My criticism of him as a radio guy is that it takes him forever to make a point. He over explains the point he is trying to make to the point that I am listening and saying to myself "I get it, I get it, move on". So I am not sure how that approach of taking so long to say it will translate over to the pace of a game play by play. We shall see, or hear, soon enough.
I agree with pirate that there was a little too much drama with the way Sexton called a game. He would try to force excitement when there was no reason for any excitement. The truth is that calling a Jags game for the past few years has probably been one of the harder jobs in sports announcing.
That guy can beat a dead horse.
David Steele was chosen by the Magic. It sounds as if as Sexton was replaced out of the blue. I listen to Frank every once I a while. He'll need to polish his delivery for this gig. I'm sure he's up to the challenge.
This seems to an increasingly common complaint about PBP guys, gone are the days of the guy who just calls the game, now they want to not only call it but also try and prove how smart they are and how dumb everyone else is...annoying as hell.
Was not a fan of Sexton, needs to take his butt back to Kansas. Not impressed by FF as a PBP guy either.
