I don't know how anyone can argue with that. I mean, when I was a kid Bill Bixby had an uncle from Mars ...

good grief.... a guy in the middle east 2000 years ago.. hmmm let's think about this for a moment.....blonde hair and blue eyes or more like most of the rest of the people that lived there at the time hmmmmmm. (and at the end of the day what difference does it make? isn't the MESSAGE the important thing?)
As for Santa.. yeah some fat white guy from northern Europe... seems to fit

The easter bunny on the other hand...

Let me guess: This is you care enough about it to post what you claim is a fact. And then when it's clear you're wrong, you announce that you didn't care in the first place?

Not at all. It is actually comical that anyone would argue about any of it.

    That's just embarrassing

    Pathetically embarrassing of her

Wonder what the motivation was to say something like that with such conviction

I watched a taped performance of Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelung where one of the main characters was Black. I wonder if Wagner ever thought about that happening when he wrote it.

It was absurd for her to make such a claim.

What do you expect the reaction to be, from what we are told to be a smart and respected journalist, saying something so knowingly wrong?

Yes, ultimately the color doesn't matter, but she was stating it in factual historical terms

Playing to her audience I guess

It is kind of funny. The original St. Nicholas was from what's now Turkey and a 13th century depiction shows him like this:

    He's been turned into this:

A jolly fat man who lives at the North Pole, flies around with reindeer, climbs down all our chimneys and delivers presents all over the world.
But the good folks at Fox tell us he needs to be depicted as exactly like that because "you don't change facts ..."

I didn't see the commentary in question. Is there any way she was joking or being mock-serious? These things are tough to tell over the internets.

    I hope so.
