Man, this is almost a sports thread...
Or, perhaps I was sleeping through the other two.
Or perhaps SEC titles don't mean that much to you?
At what point to you sell your soul for winning at all costs? Yeah I get it, you can look at your championship gear and not give a crap.
What does this mean? Aaron Hernandez didn't kill anyone here while he played football. He didn't get arrested while he played football here.
For how long is a player the responsibility of the coach?
No, I love them. Just that we only won 2 (SEC and NC) under Urban. We did win the East three times. . . but that's still not four.
Oh, I get it. SEC and NC combined.
You wanna borrow my calculator?
What are you talking about? Where did I say UM was still responsible for AH? I'm not sure what you're talking about.
Check the edit Richard.
College sports is corrupt. If you think we're winning "clean" or ever have, you're naive. I'm not condoning it, but it's a dirty business.
Too bad. I used to enjoy feeling morally superior to F$U and UM.
So much for that.
Well, we probably still are. Our football players? Apparently, not all of them...
I could be wrong but I don't thing BOOM is going to turn his head the other way like UM.
I don't have any mushy feelings for Meyer. He's a mercenary. We paid him to win big and he did. I'm not sure why people hate him for doing his job very well. He wasn't one of us, I guess.
To a random weed positive test or a fight or the sorts of things Meyer "turned his head" to? Yeah, he probably will. And he'll get some bad apples, too. It's big time college football. I just want you to brace yourself.
I'm not saying I hate him and not making it personal in that respect. He rolled the dice be recruiting players that had certain character issues and it surfaced. I believe your terminology of a mercenary couldn't be any more accurate.
Seriously, the issues we had with player during his tenure would take too long to discuss on a thread. Every time you turn around somebody was getting arrested.
At the same time, for the most part his "red light" recruits that stayed did not commit egregious acts. I'd say Rainey was the primary exception there.
Hernandez failed a pot test. Percy failed a couple of pot tests. I don't want our coach to stop recruiting players that might smoke pot in college, nor do I consider that rolling the dice.
Further, I can't pin a player's future actions on his former coach.
