IMO Foley has privately backed Muschamp and they decided it needed to be made public to prevent recruits who are worried about him getting fired from bailing.

Our only hope now is to hit the jackpot with some new OC who can at minimum produce a watchable product.

Hr cant You would never get a good coach if they thought the AD was going to run the program

I really wonder if our current crew has the ability to recruit to keep up with our competition. Until they can get some lineman and a top ranked qb, we will be stuck on a raft in the middle of the sea.

Muschamp hasn't done anything that merits a mid-season firing. Zook got canned because the program was spiraling dangerously out of control, and immediate measures were needed.

I am not satisfied with a single season of the Muschamp era (no, not even last season, because of the embarrassing loss to UL), but at least Wil hasn't had to be restrained from storming a frat house. He's handled himself with class, and his firing, if it happens this year, will be handled with similar decorum.

Yep in the last three years we've played exactly the same way. Elementary offense, horrible offensive line, poor quarterback play, no passing game, and bend but don't break defense. Only difference was last year we avoided turnovers , had several high draft picks on defense, and an nfl kicker. Three things that aren't that easy to duplicate.

He only gets fired this year if 1) we lose to Georgia southern or 2) there is a Meyer type candidate available.

#2 is not possible this year soo....

Oh and this decision can't be emotional, like how everyone on this board is treating it.

    That's fine.

    And I maybe wrong.

    Here's my logic:

Pease has a team that has minimal depth on the OL and has lost multiple starters, I'll not list them it's well know. Hiring a new OC means more disruption, more ? during recruiting, a whole new system for players to learn in the off season. Muskrat knows his butt is on the hot seat, next year he needs to be 9-3 and real close to the SECCG, it would just cause too much turmoil with players and recruits. We all know CWM is not a gambler. I think he's in for a pound here.

I truly hope it turns around too, especially for truly passionate Gator fans like yourself. Even Muschamp has said that he's not happy with the offense, it's good he recognizes at least that something needs changing. I hope in the process of this season that WM has gone through a learning curve that leads to becoming a really good head coach. If the team is undisciplined and looking poorly coached next year, then I'm sure the fan base will be united in asking for change. Foley is confident Muschamp can turn things around. Let's hope so.

My rationale is that someone will have to be the fall guy. Two seasons at north of 100 offenses nationally. Right or wrong, Pease is the easiest target. Personally, I think it's the right move.

This just cracks me up. Urban was his hire too. The most powerful AD in the country (arguably) doesn't get arm wrestled into hiring anyone. My guess is if anything Jeremy used Machen to help him land Urban.

No one has a single link to prover Urban was not Jeremy's hire.

I sense much more spiraling out of control now than I did under Zook to be honest.

Zook never had two 4 game losing streaks. His worst was 2.
Zook didnt lose EIGHT games by double digits, only five.
Zook never produced units that were so inept they ranked in the bottom 15% of the entire NCAA.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Zook bring in Strong and Fedora? Thats a much better staff than what Muschamp has hired.
Zook managed to beat at least 1 ranked team each year. Muschamp is looking at 2 full seasons without doing so*
Zook never came close to a .500 or losing season
Zook never missed a bowl game*

*Assuming we lose to USCe and FSU. We might not though. Who knows.

He may not have had us ever ranked in the top 5 or taken us to a BCS bowl, but give me the Ron Zook era over this any day of the week over this mess. Much more enjoyable from Saturday to Saturday.
