    17 turnovers
    11 fumbles, 6 INTs
    340 YPG, 167.5 rushing, 172.5 passing
    19 offensive PPG scored
only scored 3 or more offensive TD's in a game twice in that time

Blah Blah Blah - we all know this.

So, things look pretty bad on offense right now.

    But check this out:

These were the offensive yards per game from Florida's last 6 games last year:
    286 - Louisville
    399 - FSU
    356 - Jack St
    311 - ULL
    276 - Mizzou
    266- UGA

    Notice nothing over 400.

Now look at their first two games this year:
    413 - Toledo
    415 - Miami

Florida is averaging more than 100 yards more per game than the last 6 games last year. The offense IS moving the ball better. The offense IS better than last year, the only issue is turnovers, a place where UF has been sloppy in the last 3 games where they have 9 turnovers in the last 3, with 2 losses being the result.

The only thing UF HAS GOT TO DO BETTER, is protect the football. It's that simple. If they protect the football, UF will win a lot of games this year. If they don't, well...

Thank you! I've been screaming this for 5 days. Our offensive gameplan put us in position to win by a lot points. We did not execute the gameplan.

This dazzling post was sent via my Samsung Galaxy Tablet using jet packs custom built for Gator Country.

you make good points, and yes the progress is great. i think what most people are worried about concerning the offense; is jeff's decision making and inability to make those game changing plays. if we take care of the ball we absolutely will win most of our games this year but in just saying that it brings up a bigger point. that point is whether jeff can make the plays that we need. and im not just talking about him throwing the ball deep. it is taking bad sacks, missing wide open receivers to force a terrible throw. sometimes the best play when he is under pressure is to simply throw it away which he does not do. yes the offense is improved but with the problems i have pointed out in this post; i don't see how we can make the next step forward offensively.

The first drive of the year is all you really need to know about how capable this offense can be.

We'll know right away. UT seems to have some luck flowing their way in the turnover category. UF can't let UT stay in the game because of turnovers.

It seems like the first drive of every game is scripted and does very well. After the scripted first drive, it seems like Pease struggles on 3rd down and redzone play calling and Driskel struggles when his first option is taken away.

after sobering up....then taking the past few day to really analyze what happened I hate to say I'm encouraged by what I'm seeing. Two things I'd like to see

    1) In red zone JD switch to zone read and have STRICT rules implemented by Pease about holding the ball too long, or trying to force a play, hopefully zone read will eliminate those scenarios anyway

    2) Get our younger playmakers the ball, especially KT, Showers, Drob, Fullwood....we shouldn't have to always "create" a score with a play. Sometimes it's ok for a guy to make a defender miss....or go get a jump ball

I am inclined to agree with this, but I am not sure how good these defenses we played really are. I presume they are better than they were last year, but then again, it is hard for either to have been worse...

    Call me cautiously optimistic...

I think the WR position has greatly improved and progressed.

This offense is still missing a major piece--the TE and some improvement on the OL. We improve in those two areas as well as a QB who can protect the ball, our offense will be fine.

I had mentioned this after the Toledo game.

Tennessee was the only time we had more yards than either game this year and Tennessee had the worst defense we faced in 2012.

I have been saying the same thing. Our offense moves the ball great we just have to protect the ball.

I'm just tired of all the doom and gloom because of one game. Yes it was a bad loss to a rival, a game UF never should have lost, and yes JD made some mistakes, but if UF can just clean those up, and even just convert FG's instead of TO's, UF will win A LOT of their games, if not all of them, this season.

We are averaging about the same points and our turnovers still high. All we've added is yardage and TOP. We are 1-1. We will be playing not so good teams until we play lsu, so we'll see if we can score. But turnovers and scoring remain a concern to me.

As long as you've been here, this surprises you? Back in the Meyer Era, the Doom and Gloom crowd was in force when we didn't win by three TDs or more.

It's a good thing we didn't have the Internet in 1992 when SOS got stoomped by Tennessee and Miss State in Weeks Two and Three. I was here when we lost our last three games in 1999. Definitely wrist-cutting time. Of course, Dougie and Hoke got all the blame...

Are you volunteering? Are you going to bring your PS3 controller and show 'em how it's done?

Something wrong with scripting ten or so possessions in advance of each game? It is also taking too long to get the play down to JD.

ThePlayer: See, Brent, it's easy. Just press the o button and pick your receiver and then send them on a hot route fly route. How hard was that?

Brent Pease: Get the hell out of my office.
