Exactly (though I think the line has been in disarray lately due to the injuries). I am also hopeful that Jones gets it going. He looked terribly at times in September last year, but eventually turned it around.

We have way too many plays (see first half against UT in particular) where the RB is getting hit before he even gets to the line of scrimmage. It's very hard to get yards after contact if you haven't built up any momentum before the first hit. I don't know if the problem is the OL, the scheme, and/or the opponents just sending more men than we can block. But, our ypc will definitely lag until that gets straightened out.

Our backs aren't wowing me either, but the problems go beyond that.

Be nice to have a healthy OL for a complete game. We'd know then if it were the backs or OL that are the problem.

The problem is shared betwen the O-line and the backs. The line is missing a lot of blocks and is dealing with a lot of injuries. The backs are not getting any yards after contact because the defenses can play so many defenders close the the LOS. A good short passing game would help but a healthy offensive line would be the biggest plus for our offense.

This is on the running backs imo. Brown and Jones aren't that good. They have no explosiveness and Jones runs uptight with low power for a guy his size. It's like they ran 70 miles before each game starts.

Taylor needs a lot more carries and I don't know why Lane is RSing. The way the coaches are acting with barely playing Taylor and RSing Lane you would think Matt Jones and Mack Brown are Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith.

I remember a stat back in 1996. The defense out scored the offense through the first two games.

Just curious, but how can you know this about Taylor? What has he shown this year that makes you think he can be any more effective than Brown and Jones?

It's not that I want you to be wrong -- quite the opposite. But at the same time I feel like we as fans are always calling for the next guy when the current No. 1 whatever isn't as superstar as we'd like.

I don't care how well we rush the ball against Tennessee and Kentucky, I want to see how well we rush the ball against LSU, Georgia, and South Carolina. Last year we produced better offensive numbers against the higher ranked teams that we faced than we did against the rest of the bunch. Just win baby, it doesn't matter where we fall on the stats chart. I'm much more concerned about turnovers than average yards per attempt.

I thought UF's run game was supposed to be big time this year--what happened?

Was hoping it would resemble the LSU stable of backs

Reminds me of the Octavious Gould days

Kentucky and Mizzou are #1 and #2. And we're worried about this stat this early in the season?

We have to establish the pass before we can open up the ground game-

The winds of change are coming soon. I have faith.

Like prior years, we overestimated our talent, esp. at OL.

    1) I think we underestimated losing Xavier Nixon, I know he struggled with pass blocking, but I have yet to see run blocking out of Dj Humphrey comparable to what Xavier did, see 2:07 of this Gillislee-FSU highlight film:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLKExSPzw2I

    2) We lost Chaz Green.

    3) Matt Jones right now appears slower than he did last year, and he does not seem to use his size well, he wants to stutter step through holes rather than piledrive..

I hope Jones will get better as season progresses.

On the bright side, I thought UF was opening up some decent holes on sweeps and off-tackle plays v UT, the issue is that Mack Brown does not have the speed to get more than 7 or 8 yards out of these holes, if Jones can app

No way...Danny's senior year? We scored over 100 in our first two games and 50 in 4/6 to start the season.

I don't recall the Georgia Southern game, but I'm pretty sure the defense and special teams accounted for 4 TDs in the SW Louisiana game. I remember Spurrier not being happy with the offense. Whatever was wrong with it, they sure fixed it before the 1st quarter in Knoxville that year.

Not sure why everyone keeps making excuses for the OL. IMHO, that's our biggest problem, and was last year, also.

All you have to do is watch that Gillislee video against FSU to know two things right away:

    1. UF doesn't have a back as good as Gillislee right now, or at least, if they do, he isn't on the field much.

    2. The UF OL isn't as good in Run Blocking.

It's only 3 games in, but if they want to win the east, they'll have to find some way to run the ball better.
