I had some meet and greet time with Scott last year. I don't live in FLA so I can't speak to his policies like many here, but I can say he seemed like a hollow shallow person when I met him. Somewhat effeminate as well, just got a really weird vibe from the guy. By contrast, I met Bob Dornan once in the '90s, and even for someone I disagreed with mostly he came across as genuine (if very political).

How about the drug testing for welfare recipients, which directly benefited his wife's company, ie his old company. They shut it down because it was a complete waste of money, shockingly.

What is a waste of money about not letting junkies and stoners on the dole?

That is conclusively settled after the 20 minutes before the lawsuits started?

Yeah, apparently I don't. Including the answer to that question it would seem, since that article does not particularly address it.

Just for giggles, does your answer mean that, if it could be made cost neutral or better, you would support keeping druggies off the dole? Or is that going to fall into the deep dark well of questions river pretends not to see, like how you can oppose a photo ID for voting if everyone got a free ID?

In FL, it's done every odd year. That's why these purges ordered by Scott are totally unnecessary and a waste of taxpayer dollars.....not to mention a part of a transparent move to suppress the vote.

The good thing that is coming out of our experience with Scott as gov and running the state like a business, is citizens are getting a gutfull of their tax dollars and quality of life taking a backseat to corporations and industries.

It's really too bad he isn't a CEO.....he'd be fired right now and be off into the sunset with his golden parachute.

Florida has had a pretty dang good couple of years, so don't expect that call from CNBC or Bloomberg :)

Rick Scott has pissed off everybody at least a little, which standing on its own is probably a sign that a politician is actually doing something right. I am not too happy with everything he is done, especially his hand in the sham prosecution this summer, but Crist? Crist? Lawl. Not a surprise there are state dems desperately urging Nelson to retire from the Senate to end his career with a run for Governor.

The liberals in Florida want state income taxes, and toll roads everywhere - like that's a winning formula. And they wonder why they keep losing the gubernatorial race in Florida.

I'm not sure where you're coming from.......the majority of Floridians, including Pubs, would wonder that, too.

To what extent does Scott get credit.....after all, Obama is the one blamed shouldn't he get the credit. And exactly how many big companies or industries has Scott lured here? What percentage are low wage service industry jobs?

Remember Scott's promise.....700,000 jobs beyond the normal job growth. Doubt that'll be a mention in his re-election campaign.

Well indirectly Scott does represent the side of politics that promotes a strong push to keep taxes low and that alone is appealing to companies hiring here, and companies that are willing to re-locate to Florida from union rights states.

That's sounds like good stuff.....but has it translated into new jobs...decent paying jobs?

I think Scott represents what too many other politicians represent. Whatever it is that will line his pockets in the end.

What I want to know is when did this country get to the point that it looked for government, from either party, to generate jobs other than as a short-term endeavor? Seems to be ass-backwards to me.
