What does this mean? Why do fans use this excuse that "we are due"?

    Who says?

I'm watching the braves game a week ago and Justin Upton is 0-5 and everyone in the room starts saying "oh yeah hes due for a hit here"

Blows my mind. No one is due for anything, you earn it. If we struggle and win 9 games this year its not because florida wasnt up on the "due next" list, its likely going to be because the offense is still stuck in first gear

What about our one regular season loss, could that have been a win just as easily as our close wins been losses?

What if we won 11 games last year, but beat UGA and lost to UL-Lafayette? That damn near happened.

Fair point, the UGA game is the flipside of the Mizzou game- the team that had led most of the game almost blew it by allowing a big drive late but forced a turnover to preserve the win.

When we we going to play for the national title if USC beat Notre Dame, that wasn't relevant?

The offense is going to be better this year with a more experienced and deeper offensive line and an experienced QB. The defense should be outstanding and the punter is going to be a 1st string AA. I think Muschamp is doing a great job and the future is looking good.

    Just a ridiculous statement.

How is the coaching staff in disarray?

Are you actually proposing to fire the current coach because the former coach left in an anarchic fashion?

Who made the so-called "recruiting mistakes? Again, are you blaming the current staff for things they had nothing to do with?

Why are we "due" for a big year?

    What is a "big" year?

Why isn't an 11 win season with wins over 4 ranked teams and our in-state rival a big year?

What I find terribly ironic is that many of the same posters who criticize the offense for not approximating the Spurrier days are the same ones who overlook the fact that last season had a better regular season record than all but three Spurrier teams (1991, 1995, 1996). It is almost as if beating bad teams by 50 points gets more credit than beating the best teams nationally and having a better record.

Yeah, and the same people that grumble that UF no longer looks like the Spurrier teams are the same people that finally drove Spurrier away, he left after a "disappointing" 10-2 season when he got sick of trying to meet the ridiculous expectations.

No, it was definitely because of Foley. Didn't you hear? Surely, it can't be us...

Big year is winning the SEC East and playing in Atlanta. This has always been the expectation.

We would have played Bama for the SEC championship.

And the national title had we beaten Bama, the same team that escaped Georgia on nearly the final play.

We were the #4 ranked team in the country at the end of last season in both the AP and BCS polls. That seems to be pretty relevant nationally.

Not to mention that under Avatar's standard, Bama was a failure in 2011 b/c it didn't get to the SECCG.

I agree with Avatar partially, ANY YEAR that UF gets to the SECCG is a success, even if UF ends up going 8-5.

But that's not the only metric for success.

You can't just pick one metric and say that defines success or failure and fail to take into account your schedule, the strength of the other teams in your division and conference etc...

But in 2012, a year where UF had a very difficult schedule and had quality teams in its division with much easier schedules, to ignore the progress made and to refuse to enjoy and savor big wins over LSU, FSU, USCe, etc... just seems to me to make being a college football fan a losers game.

Right now in the SEC East, the best any team in the East can hope for is to over time get to the SECCG every 3rd year or so, sometimes put 2 or 3 together when the stars align.

Recently the stars have aligned for UGA b/c it has had the schedule and UF has been in transition with a new coach and young QB.

That begins to change this year and next.

    let's see what happens.
