JC Jackson is the DB that got beat deep by Fulwood
Very nice to see the ball being thrown for distance. D looks a little slow to target but maybe it was the magic of the arm?
Time will tell but looks promising.
David Sharpe went down with a reported high ankle sprain during the practice. This reported by Robbie Andreu at the Gainesville Sun:
"Muschamp said the only injury to come out of Friday’s scrimmage was a high ankle sprain sustained by true freshman offensive tackle David Sharpe.“David Sharpe has a high ankle. It happened this morning. But he’s fine,” Muschamp said. “We’ll see him tomorrow morning. Those high ankles can be two days, they can be a week. We need to get him back. He’s a really good football player. He’s very athletic, 6-6, 330 pounds, moves his feet extremely well. A guy that’s going to help us this year.”
The only problem with the report is that I've never seen a high ankle sprain be healed in 2 to 7 days. Depending on the severity most high ankle sprains take 4 to 6 weeks. I hope Muschamp misspoke about the type of ankle sprain. If not, I doubt we'll see David Sharpe game ready until at Tennessee.
Good stuff. I see chemistry finally between out qb and wr's. It's amazing what a healthy squad can do huh AZ?
The video showed Driskel taking 2 sacks, 1 by Davis. I know Roper wants the ball out more quickly to avoid sacks.
Overall, what's not to like about the passing game as we've been inconsistent to none the last 2 years.
Yeah I thought most high ankle sprains were pretty bad, but maybe this is potentially a minor one? But I think you're right, the normal recovery for this is like 6 weeks.
Maybe he meant strain, not sprain. Or maybe Jameis Winston reported it as a skrain, and people were just confused!
OL needs to stay healthy, but if anyone is going to get hurt in that unit, better it be the 2nd unit as the drop off between the first unit and second unit has been reportedly huge all through camp.
2 weeks in. No serious injuries. Pretty good play on both sides of the ball. There is a lot to like about this fall camp.
Hopefully the team stays productive and injury free all season long.
I agree. And though some may not agree but champ deserves a ton of credit. He's made many changes from coaches to players but also the practice regimen (morning and evenings) eliminating the scorching hot midday practices, open practices, research on ways to eliminate as many injuries as possible and then there is this next stat that is astounding (for UF)
Hope Sharpe's sprain is minor. Agree with others that high ankle sprains are typically multi-week recovery.
This stat allows less distractions and keeps our players on the field where we need them.
You might want to watch the video again Driskel didn't take a sack he is in a red non contact jersey. The back up QB's are live and Skylar and Will did take sacks.
He didnt seem too concerned about the ankle sprain from watching the press conference
True enough. But I have never seen CWM seem concerned about an injury unless it was life-threatening. Its always "man-down, man-up" with him. I'm making no editorial comment on my feelings on this; but just sayin' that Muschamp's reaction to an injury tells you nothing, because its always the same.
Fullwood was flying. Doubt anybody on the team has a higher top gear than he does. Looked like the safety who was helping cover Robinson and tried to come over to help Jackson, but Fullwood was gone.
Well, at least he didn't tweak it.
I remember a time during the recruiting process where some claimed he was too slow on film to be a true deep threat in an SEC offense. Funny how things work out sometimes....
The Tennessee game in October?
I said he has to get stronger (said it would take a year or two) and use his length to be a vertical threat in the SEC and I stand by that statement made. One thing Muschamp has said is Fulwood has gotten a lot stronger this year. He is not slow he just has has a long stride and builds to full speed. Where as some of the other WR's get to top gear and put pressure on DB's a little quicker. What we dont see on that high light is how he got open on JC. I still think he needs to add weight to his frame.
later in the press conference he said something like "trenton would be our 4th tackle is David will be out for awhile but we dont think he will"
