Florida =Big Time another CBS game of the week

    CBS just ran a commercial with NFL kickoff about to start for Tennessee at number 18 Florida 3:30 CBS on Saturday. This begs the question (by me), going back 10 years, 20 years or whatever timeframe is appropriate (such as when CBS became the primary network of the SEC) how many times have we been the game of the week on CBS compared to other SEC teams? Just wondering.

    Fla is coming off a bad loss to Miami & ut got blown out by Oregon - this is not a big game

    While it may not be as "big" as previous UF/UT matchups--which other SEC game this week would actually be bigger? Or at least taking into consideration the history of the series--which game holds more appeal in the SEC as compared to our game? Just curious what you think.

    There's are only one other SEC which could come close--LSU/AUB. All things considered, I would put ours equal or slightly ahead of this one.

    there weren't many great matchups this week...next week has a bunch of SEC star quality games highlighted by LSU at UGLY, Ole Miss at Bama and A&M at Arky

    You just made the OP's point. Maybe you meant to?

    This is NOT a big game nationally, yet CBS uses it as its only game of the week. Hence "UF = Big Time," not "UF-UT a Big Game This Saturday"

    You've got to be a Big Time program to a) be picked as CBS' Game of the Week as the lead team in this turkey of a game; and b) to have been on CBS' Game of the Week 18 (or is it now 19?) times more often than your nearest competitor, Alabama.

    So, ................ UF = Big Time.

    The last time I can remember this game not being on CBS was the screw job game in 2004. There really isn't anything else to compete with it for top SEC game the third week in September.

    Of course we're "big time." UF brings lots of eyeballs. Has for some time. Living in exile, I still get nearly every football game and most bball games with a run of the mill digital cable package.

    I moved to Colorado in 1999 and was worried about being able to watch the Gators.

    I have been pleasantly surprised - it never was a problem and believe we are very "big time" - although this is one of the worst areas for college football in the country - basic cable and now directv has almost always come through.
