Looks like he will be around awhile.......$ 4.1 million a year......looks like the Texas talk got him a nice little raise....
Another reason Auburn may beat them
    1. Coach gets huge raise before game
    2. Heisman Trophy winner
    3. Prohibitive favorite

Fisher better put a statue of Winston in his house because Winston sure is making him a TON of undeserved money.

And both Fisher and Winston better put statues in honor of TPD in their homes.

Only other 2 heisman winners at fsu went on to win the MNC. #2 is bad for Auburn.

Looks like they are going to have to steal some more education money to pay the head coach's salary. Well, you don't really need classes to learn how to say "You want fries with that?"

I was hoping he'd go just to shake things up in Tally and shut a few mouths. I honestly don't think he's all that as a coach. When Winston leaves, fsu will be back to being a good, solid cfb team - rarely anything special. Now, maybe AU can do the mouth shutting for us. War Eagle!!

Thanks. I was about to point that out. And in '93, Ward and company were a missed mid-range field goal from blowing that one to a double-digit underdog Nebraska team.

Mark Ingram, Matt Leinart and Cam Newton had luck in the NC game, but I am also thinking about Bradford, Troy Smith, Reggie Bush, Eric Crouch, Chris Weinke and Jason White had bad luck and lost the NC game. Also the Heisman curse has hurt nearly all of the BCS era winners in their NFL careers.

This really means nothing. This is pocket change to Texas. If anything, Jimbo actually did something smart (surely an accident!) and raised his own value to teams like Texas that would want him. Make no mistake, if texas wants jimbo, they can back up the brinks truck for him and unlike Saban, he's not been coaching long enough and/or won enough to have a positive legacy.

Seeing as how no one's read the contract or its provisions...I suppose the possibility of a buyout clause for certain teams hasn't occurred to anyone?

Fisher has been rumored to be interested in the Texas job for some time--and while this latest contract ups his pay, the reality is: f$u can't get into a bidding war with Texas. Their athletic department, fanbase, and national brand aren't even in the same category. They're waaay down the list of top-tier money programs in the NCAA, with Texas at #1.

All of the candidates Texas is interested in have signed contract extensions recently: Briles at Baylor, Fisher at f$u, Strong at Louisville, and pretty sure Franklin of Vandy did as well. So clearly, Texas is planning on paying enormous sums of money to get their guy...or the coaches in question have a buyout clause in there (as most do).

Problem is, with the extension, Texas will have to pay FSU nearly $50 Million to get him now. Texas won't do that. I expect Strong at Texas.

Why $50, is it a 10 year extension? If Texas was truly interested Jimbo's handlers would have put something in the contract extension but if so no way fsu's PR dept would have indicated that in their press release. So who knows what Texas will do or how much Jimbo's extension handcuffs him? We're just guessing.

Fisher isn't that good of a coach, so I see no reason why anyone would want him to go anywhere other than it might help our recruiting out this year.
