Agree. Not to mention, he won't take his exact staff with him and that's a big reason he and Bama are so successful. Kirby Smart would not be at Texas.

one reason Muschamp could leave, not saying he will, is that the team he fielded last year at UF could possible won the conference at Texas.

    It helps with job security.

Meyer is probably going to look like a better coach for the long run being at OSU than if he had stayed at UF

Strong was coming of a 6-6 season at Louisville. He obviously righted the ship there, but it would have felt very underwhelming coming off of that season.

Saban at Texas would have only one team to play, OU, each year now that the real bully, Nebraska, is gone. There is no conference title game, they get the best recruiting class each year in Texas and he would have a chance to win a NC at three school and probably go down as the best coach in history. Plus with the paper trail to Fluker there may be some things he doesn't want to deal with at Bama. Oh yea then why on earth would the texas admin ask brown if he is ready to retire after talking with saban. Sounds like they had someone already lined up if Brown said yes. Plus Saban has not said that I am not going to Texas.

Muschamp has more reasons to go to Texas than Saban.
I don't think Saban is afraid of anything at this point.
In fact i think if i was Saban and had accomplished what he has I would need the biggest challenge i could get just to stay interested in what i was doing.

Like Spurrier he was beyond mony or job security it was about a challenge

This particular Devil Dog Nole doesn't appear to have any intelligence problems, and could doubtless go to Florida as easily as FSU...

I would also think that the only reason Saban would consider Texas is for the challenge of winning MNCs at three universities. That would probably make him the greatest head coach in history.

I should have marked my "done deal" comment as sarcasm. I was playing off the idea that the more Saban denies something the more likely it will happen.

The dreaded "done deal" and the escape goat reappearing in the same week ... could be a bad omen ...

if he leaves alabama for texas, he would be making a lot more money. texas would pay whatever it takes--even $10 million.

It doesn't matter what specific reason Meyer had. The fact is, even if it's because of easier admission standards, he felt Florida was a better place to be a head coach.

Other things come into play when choosing what school is the better place to work. Things like being an hour from beaches and having lots to do and having pro sports teams and good schools and good weather.

When you take such a job you are going to move your entire family there and there are a lot of things besides the football program that decide where is the best place to be a coach.

Who would want to live in Birmingham? :whoa:

I was responding to the general idea of him leaving. Not your done deal joke. I got that, I'm somewhat of a fins fan :)

Hopefully Foley is smarter than this. strong has left a bitter taste in UF's mouth over the last few years. Let him take his issues w/ UF elsewhere. I actually doubt he would consider us.

I would rather hire nick satan than charley strong. Those that know me know THAT is saying something.

Haven't you forgotten that he was never "going" to bama LOL? The man lies just like someone else we all know.

I think satan would love to float his boat on Lake Travis. I could see him in the Hill Country quite easily.
