When I say "Ties to Texas" I don't mean from Muschamp's side but from the Texas' side. The decision makers at Texas know CWM very well and have been albe to see what he is like in a program as the #2. They also know what he brings to the table and what his weaknesses are better than any other candidate if Saban says no.

I look at it this way- Let's say you have to live with a women ( or man, not that there is anything wrong with that) and be in a relationship with them. You can either move in with your former girlfriend who you were really serious with but broke because she moved to a new city and is now moving back or with a woman you know About and talked to but really don't know that well. They are pretty much all equal outside of that. Which one would you feel more comfortable going with?

True but I think Texas has a bigger advantage in state than say UF in Florida or UGA in Georgia. I would say they are more like Miami in Broward/Dade when they are putting good teams on the field. They are going to get most, ie 80%, of the guys they want out of there and then everyone else is going to have to fight for the 20% left over.

Charley Strong would be a good option for Florida if Will packs his bags.

Uh, I think the lesson there was that Notre Dame was not going to lower their admission standards like Meyer's was asking them to do. Meyer wanted a certain amount of exceptions that met the NCAA standard but not the ND standard each year. ND said no, so Meyer said "Excuse me, I have a call to place to Foley's office." left the room and never came back.

    CAPT;

    Your pints are valid.

I think Texas is an easier place to win than UF, and that the Texas Admin. knows Muschamp so there may be a comfort level for them.

Two interesting points to consider are:

    1) Texas AD DeLoss Dodd is alos on the way out, would a new AD want to hire a coach associated with the old regime? He may want a new guy who has no relationship with the University and therefore would be beholden to him for the job.

    2) Is the Big 12 going to be viable in the long run? So long as texas struggles, the Longhorn Network is not the cash cow it was expected to be, and the whole financial structure of the Big 12 is uncertain.

Texas is the engine of the Big 12, if it loses its way, the Big 12 gets picked over and where would Texas go?

Texas has no interest in SEC, esp. after TAMU's admission, and what Texas wants is another conference that it can bully around...is that the PAC 10 or the ACC?

Would a new coach want to play most of his road games in California and West Coast venues?

I have wondered about this myself. I wonder if there is any regret to not hiring Charlie after Urban Liar left. I think it wouldn't have been widely questioned but would have been great for the continuity of the program.

Finebaum and Bianchi? OMG....They are two of the biggest Gator Haters in the nation! Also, between the two of them you couldn't scrape up an ounce of brain matter if an asteroid fell on them! Quick question....if Finebaum, Bianchi and Usama Bin Laden were on a plane that was about to crash....who would you save? Yep....me too.....nobody!

I would only want Petrino as coach if he is neutered.

He took one look at the talent at Notre Dame and the talent at Florida and said, "At Florida, i can win NOW."

Talk about hyperbole. I like Mikey OK, don't care for Finebaum, but neither of those gentlemen plotted to kill thousands of Americans.

    Perspective...

ESPN talking about it now. Quote Saban as saying he's too old to start over. Probably means it's a done deal for him to move.

South Alabama "neutered" his offense the entire second half last Saturday.

The new girlfriend is the old girlfriend from your childhood that you do know very well.

I would go with the one with bigger tits. Since Texas appears to have bigger tits than Florida, I go with Texas.

I think the more appropriate analogy is whether you go back to your old girlfriend that you dated and dumped because she wouldn't commit to you, or stay with your current one whom you are not certain is committed to you forever. It probably comes down to which one you like more - and only Muschamp can answer that.

However, either way, the sex is going to be boring.

Why in the world would Saban leave Bama for Texas? That is just dumb. No matter what he does at Texas, he won't be as big a god as he is in Bama. He won't make more money, he won't have more exposure.
