Misery on Missouri - they might be in for some hard fouls.

I hope he gets a few solid minutes flying up and down the court to get the butterflies out and hope he can handle fans unrealistically expecting him to be super.

Held out over a month for $270 in impermissible benefits? Are you kidding me?

It is not $270 of benefits. That is the number that he got from two agents. Check the rest of the story:

The NCAA said in a statement that Walker received preferential treatment from five people -- including two agents. Walker will be required to donate the $270 he received from the agents to a charity, and will also serve 80 hours of community service for the remaining benefits received.

The NCAA also found that Walker, while a prospect, received free cell phones and service, airfare, lodging, meals and apparel. Individuals close to Walker received free airfare and lodging for nine trips -- including eight associated with AAU competitions.

Yeah, that's a lot of freebies. While I love to bash the NCAA as much as the next guy, the punishment is fair.

Just glad to have all that nonsense behind us.

    Awesome!!!!!!!!!

NCAA maroons. Student athletes generate a $billion+ in revenue for NCAA each year and they are abusing Chris for receiving preferential treatment (food, lodging, transportation). Sad. I'd understand if someone got a car or high paying job but not the relatively small things listed.

Yeah, it sucks, but the rules are the rules. If he had gotten a free car, he would have lost his amateur status permanently.

The NCAA confirmed in a news release that Walker received a 12-game suspension for accepting impermissible benefits from five people, including two agents. In facts of the case, agreed upon by the UF and NCAA investigators, Walker accepted free cell phones and service, airfare, lodging, meals and apparel. Additionally, individuals close to Walker received free airfare and lodging for nine different trips, including eight associated with Walker's non-scholastic basketball team competitions.

To be fair..that is A LOT more than we originally thought...I can't really be too upset now to be honest. That is a lot of things the NCAA had to look into..

NOW...I absolutely thing it's wrong any of this but the agent's should cause punishment. He had no way of travelling to tournaments without help to help him grow as a player and SECURE THE DA** KIDS FUTURE. That is still making me angry. NCAA..we like you...as long as you aren't incredibly poor and make us billionaires.

If it was a 12-game suspension, then it would cover from the inception of his eligibility (Memphis) to the Mizzou game. Odds are it took until Jan. 21 for the NCAA to complete its investigation and set the 12-game limit, so UF applied for his reinstatement effective upon completion of the suspension. Just a guess on the last part, though.

Basically, the thing to focus on, besides he finally getting to play in a game, is how does his "indiscretions" versus penalties align with other "indiscretions" and penalties? I just hope there is a precedent that confirms a 12-game suspension for this level of "offense." Just putting it out there.
