Didn't he say "half a hundred"? Rings a little better than just fifty...
UGA needs to score early to be able to pound the rock with Gurley & Marshall later in the game and not have to drop back every down and throw, which will play into USCe's hands.
I'm pretty sure it was 50. I just don't recall the "half a hundred". Of course now I'm really curious. Maybe someone else remembers it too.
He was a monster at Ft Pierce Central. Big rivalry for Merritt Island back in them days. In 71 FPC beat Merritt Island in the district at Lawnwood stadium and ended up winning the state 4a. Next year MI crushed them at Mustang stadium and they won states in 72. Doc was the kind of guy that would flatten a QB into the ground and then help them up and ask if they are OK.
So who are you pulling for?
USC-East will win it but it'll be closer than some think.
South Carolina - 28
Georgia - 20
I have a feeling that Richt is going to pull one of his "UF - UGA game" stunts and have his team hyped sky-high emotionally and playing right on the edge dirty for this game too.
what i saw the whole dline must of been "sick" they all appeared to be sucking wind late in the 2nd qtr.
i thought it was half a hundred, not for sure though
If we win out (beating both USCe and UGA) it doesn't really matter but as of now wouldn't it benefit us more if UGA wins - thus leaving both teams with a loss in the SEC East?

ESPN has been trolling apparently
I like South Carolina in this one.
I've met doc on many occasions. That's one big dude. Haven't seen him in a while though.
Dedicated to our good friends at the University of Georgia.....
I don't see South Carolina as the team they were last year. Once shaw is hurried, he starts losing composure and starts making mistakes. They were also 5/14 on 3rd down and Shaw finished 11/20. Hell, UNC was 3/4 on 4th down lol.
^ Georgia is the better team this year.
3rd down conversion is such an overrated stat in a game that was 17-0 in the first quarter. SC's two primary chain movers were both hurt (one was out and the other barely played) and will play against GA. Still, SC's center might not play which is a greater loss than the GA receiver IMO.
not sure if you're referring to me, but i was talking about 4TH DOWN.
even so, UNC was still better in 3rd AND 4th DOWN plays than South Carolina.
once (not if) Georgia limits Clowney, Georgia will start to walk away with it.
NC's only TD was on a drive aided by the refs in a major way.
The game all depends on how Gurley does and if the young LBs for SC keep him in check. SC was playing second and third stringers in the NC game before half time given the extreme heat. A walk on caught one of SC's TD passes in the first quarter.
Another huge factor could be how much the refs call holding on GA. The lines when GA has the ball will largely be the same as last year.
I'll go SC for this game -- even though GA has something to prove.
It looks like they might go 0-2 in the SEC though.
