Doubt we see an upset. Pitt will be in it for the first qtr, maybe the second. After that, Noles will pull away. Pitt is terrible.

Great line from a Frank Sinatra movie:
Marriages may have been made in heaven, but they're lived in Pittsburgh.

Well, there will be 2 "firsts" in tonight's game.

This will be the first game for Pittsburgh in the ACC.

And it will the first start for FSU RFR QB Jameis Winston. He is just the 3rd FR to start as QB for FSU. The other two being Chris Rix and Drew Weatherford. Both those guys got wins in their 1st start. No doubt the ESPN crew will be mentioning it.

Also in one publication I saw Jameis listed as 6-3 215 and in another as 6-4 225. So maybe he grew that fast from preseason publication to the other!
Kids do seem to grow fast now days! :)

And I should add, this will also be the first FSU Pittsburgh game since 1983.

I want Pitt to beat the living crap out of Winston. Even if they lose the game, leave that guy black, blue, and concussed.

I'll watch this game as long as Ref$u is losing or struggling. If they start pulling away and the telecast becomes a Nole suckfest, I'll switch to something else. Go Panthers. Win your ACC opener.

Pretty much how I watch every f$u game.

The Orange Bowl against (I can't even remember who their opponent was? lol) was excruciating... but I sat through it till the 4th quarter because f$u looked like crap for most of it.

Pitt is awful. They'll keep it close early but fsu will pull away and never look back.

Winston should find a bunch of success against Pitts secondary and he will be annointed the next Charlie Ward. Its all so predictable. This game wont be close (not because fsu is great) but because of their overall speed. Pitt is bad.

FSU lost a bunch of players and has a QB that's never played college football before ... they will probably win but I think it will be ugly.

If Pitt doesn't turn the ball over more than say, once, this will be a close game for most of the game at least.

On offense, fsu lacks depth at QB, OL, and RB and lost a very good RB (Pender) and two very good WR's (Dent and Haulstead, sp?), in the off-season, and they have zero game experience at starting QB too. fsu's strengths in this game will be at DT, MLB, and WR.

Their defense lost a lot of starters including a huge part of their pass rush from last year as well. Pitt is an above - average team, but could give fsu some trouble if they limit their own TO's and force a couple by fsu at opportune times.

That said, I expect fsu to win but it may be a little closer than some think if Pitt can protect the football, milk the clock, and play good ball control and field position.

Working on fsu's depth is the way they can stay in this game.

    fsu - 26

    Pitt - 14

Sounds like all the hype over Charlie Ward back in the early '90's. Several publications had him at 6', 6' 2", 210 - 220 lbs., and all kinds of that nonsense. I've met Charlie Ward on several occasions when he was at fsu and he was barely 5' 10" and maybe 190 lbs. max., and that still may be stretching his weight.

Winston is not that big in person. More like barely 6' 1" and perhaps 200 lbs. max. Don't know where these publications get their stats from but I think some just inflate them for pure sensationalism and because none of these "sports journalists" never really do their homework. It's about selling football magazines and that's it.
