Thus far this looks like a down year for the SEC.

The Vols get a break from a high-octane offense next week.

But they will hopefully run into a bone-crushing defense.

ESPN just mentioned that Oregon has scored 184 points in their first 3 games!

They lost three playmakers in Hunter, Patterson and Rivera and their QB. Bray, even with his mental issues, had an arm and could keep them in the game.

Granted, their offensive line is rated very high, but they have noone to block for.

On defense, they were supposed to be a somewhat improved. However, they lost their best DL to suspension and have some injury issues there.

They rolled over their OOC patsies, but were exposed in a big way today.

Come on. We've scored 40 in two games. They've only scored 144 more points with 1 extra game.

    Oh God that is horrible.

Who said that? It was ugly. I am still glad we didn't buy out of this game which a lot of schools in our position would have done but that was painful to watch. Even if Jones can continue his recruiting trend and proves to be the right hire (and the jury is out on both) it will be at least 2016 before Tenn can compete with elite teams again. I sat through the first two games of the 1981 season which involved a 44-0 loss at Georgia with Herschel Walker and a 43-7 loss at USC with Marcus Allen and never been as embarrassed for our team as I was today. The Tenn defense will make Driskel look like Colin freaking Kaepernick next week and have you guys talking Heisman.

Wow. Oregon needs to really work on that. They clearly didn't wear down the Tennessee defense.

lol I wish --PS as a Falcons fan that hurts lol

I'd bet this Vols and Gators game will be a good game for both teams.

I know our D will stuff UT , but we need some O.

Come on Gators get up and Go.

For example, just look at the Alabama vs. Texas A&M game today. Oops. Never mind. No message.

LOL I like that last quote, but honestly Jager, I like it when UT is strong because that makes the SEC strong overall. I don't like watching SEC teams get schooled like that by OOC teams.

I think UF wins comfortably running their style of offense next weekend and gets lots of rushing yards with a healthy Matt Jones and Mack Brown in the backfield, but I expect the Gator defense to be the primary determining factor. I think UT will have a lot of problems against the Gator D next Saturday.

UF is coming off a loss to an inferior Miami team that they will have had to digest for two straight weeks, so I expect a much more determined Gator team with better efficiency on offense.

I too would like to see UT return to prominence as long as we still prevail when we play them, of course.

I agree it helps the SEC overall and improves competition, which is beneficial to everyone.

Me too. The SEC seems to be a little down this year.
    We lost to the Hurricanes.
    Georgia lost to Clemson.
Kentucky lost to both WKU and Louisville.
    Tennessee lost to Oregon.
The one bright spot was the Ole Miss Rebels who demolished the Texas Longhorns.
Might be other games I've forgotten.

Lets not jump the gun saying the SEC is down this year.

I can't recall the year but I remember everyone saying it a couple years back and we still ended up with a lot of teams ranked in top 10 and obviously still won the championship

Ducks (that's Ducks) could have scored 80.
