Time goes by fast! Steve Spurrier has been HC at SC since 2005 already, now in his 9th year.

The SEC East race is a nail biter for almost everyone in the division this year.

SC is pretty healthy at this point and their defense seems to be settling in outside of their 60+ yard TD brain fart each game.

If they win their next two home games, they will set their all-time home winning streak.

Kinda hard to judge USC these days: they pretty much did what I expected versus Arkansas, even if they scored a few more points than I expected. I also felt that UT was similar to Arky, but they played great defense, and while USC's defense actually played well in that game, their offense was not very prepared at all, even before Shaw went down with his injury.

After that game, I felt USC would lose to Missouri under the circumstances, and while they did every thing to lose short of actually losing, the Gamecocks surprised me with (for a quarter) efficient offense that I expected to see in Knoxville but didn't...

What should be in USC's favor first off is, they are finally playing in front of their home crowd for the first time in a month. USC is just a different team in Williams-Brice - not so much more prolific or efficient as they seem more poised in tight games and just seem more confident. Probably no different with most SEC teams at home.

USC finishes off their 2013 season playing their final 4 regular season games in W-B. They have a current 14-game home win streak that's one win shy of their program best. With their upset win over Mizzou plus both UGA's and UF's losses, USC also is back in the division chase. The game with MSU is sold out twice now (MSU returned a portion of their allocation of tickets), and USC typically has played well in noon-time games....

MSU's and USC's defensive stats are almost mirror images of each other, and also the offensive stats as well although USC has the better passing offense. USC's DC Ward has called Prescott another Connor Shaw only bigger. Prescott is MSU's leading rusher and leader in rushing TDs, while Shaw defers to RB Mike Davis, the SEC's rushing leader (930 yds 10 TDs).

MSU essentially has one primary WR in Jameon Lewis who has 446 yds and 4 receiving TDs - only one other Bulldog has caught 200+ receiving yds (Robert Johnson with 209) and 2+ TDs (that was Prescott both times on a trick throw-back from Lewis: USC may need to watch out for that play). USC has twin receivers in Bruce Ellington (468 yds 5 TDs) and Damiere Byrd (460 yds 3 TDs), with Nick Jones (203 yds 3 TDs) as a solid option. Shaw also has RB Mike Davis (300 yds - leads SEC for RB position) as an outlet target as well. If USC's secondary can blanket Lewis and render him ineffective, they could force MSU and Prescott into becoming a running team, and still be able to stack the box. Meanwhile, Shaw should have multiple targets to throw to.

Shaw is expected to start for USC, while Davis was beat up a bit vs Mizzou he's also expected to be 100% and ready to go. #2 RB Brandon Wilds is cleared to play from the elbow injury suffered vs UCF. Starting RG Ronald Patrick will be back as well for MSU, which should improve the OL play...

Probably a very physical game ending with a few more banged up players, but SC should win easily.

I'm pulling for a Gator victory this weekend, and a UT upset of Missouri. I'd love for the SEC East championship game to be played in Columbia(SC) on Nov 16th. I'm tired of UGA backing their way into the East, and it's not right that Missouri should win the east in their second year.

I was wondering what was taking you so long to post your take in this game. Especially since it's been posted for 2 days now. Thought something bad has happened to you. What else!

My wife sprained her ankle (or so we thought) last weekend. After going to the doctor we found out she has a broken bone on the outside of her ankle. I've been taking care of her and teaching my lazy teenagers to cook for themselves. Sometimes I think mothers are too easy on their kids (I know my mother was). They don't say "Get up and fix it yourself."

The key to the game is the Florida defense getting pressure on Murray. He really doesn't play well with pressure. Not sure how the Gurley return will factor in. If he isn't 100 percent and UGA has no O line, I see UF winning this.

I am somewhat amazed by the injuries to both UGA and UF. With both teams having lost so much on offense, this game comes down to defense, and I don't think anyone questions who has the best defense.

Or the best defensive coach (yeah, I'm not ready to write Will off. Most think last years 11 and 2 was overachieving).

Though I would add it seems the "Foley way" seems to be to hire a D coach until an O coach becomes available. It ain't Pease.

I'm sorry about your wife. For me I have been having a lot of knee pain the last year year or so. Won't go in to much about it and just bore everyone. XRays didn't show much. Thought I was just having another arthritis problem. So had an MRI done. Found out I have lost about half (or whatever the medical term is) of my meniscus in my left knee. So yippee. Hit me like a ton of bricks. The Practitioner says, "Ray, you have a serious problem similar to what athletes can get. You will have to see an orthopedic specialist for surgery and it will be a long rehab and recovery process." That was it! She didn't say have a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.

So I've seen the specialist and I'm glad that he doesn't want to do the surgery first. Got a cortisone shot and I have to wear a knee pad, 2 hours on then 2 hours off. Little uncomfortable at first as it does have a lot of pressure in the knee area but I'm starting to get use to it. So who knows what's going to happen.

My Dad always had a great sense of humor! I hope I do too. I remember him telling me, "Son, don't get old. You won't like it." My a Dad was smart.
