If the Gators beat Missouri we will have a 4-1 SEC record. Then Missouri will be 2-1 SEC.
If Tennessee beats South Carolina then the Gamecocks will have a 3-2 SEC record. And
If Vanderbilt beats Georgia then the Bulldogs will have a 3-2 SEC record.

So, no doubt whom we are cheering for. :)

This will be an interesting game: on paper, the Vols present a challenge to the Gamecocks that's pretty similar to the one that Arkansas presented last week. Both Arky and UT bring up the rear in the SEC for passing offenses, and this would seem to be an advantage of sorts for USC, which has struggled a bit on defense thus far this season, but the biggest area of their struggles has been with their passing defense. Arkansas was not able to expose this weakness, and as a result USC dominated them defensively...

The Vols have struggled mightily in their passing offense, averaging 164.2 ypg, good for 113th nationally. One could say that they have been improving as the season has progressed, with the only two 200+ passing efforts coming in their most recent games versus South Alabama and UGA. And this may be true, however those two opponents also have the two worst passing defenses of all FBS opponents that the Vols have yet faced (98th and 97th respectively)...

Like Arkansas, Tennessee's biggest offensive strength has been their rush game, but also like the Hogs, they have had their biggest rushing performances thus far against the weaker, non-conference opponents they've played, all wins. The Vols averaged 270+ rushing ypg versus Austin Peay, Western Kentucky and South Alabama, but only half that versus Oregon, Florida, and Georgia, all losses. Arkansas also bloated their rushing stats against opponents such as Samford, LA-Lafayette, and Southern Miss. They did rush for 218 yds versus the Gamecocks, but 80+ of those came in the 4th qtr. with the outcome decided and USC emptying their bench into the game...

Tennessee's defense is also similar to Arkansas' in that statistically speaking it's been poor: mostly categories ranking in the 70s and 80s in FBS. UT has played offensive powerhouses in Oregon and UGA, so those stats could be a bit skewed, but overall even in games versus lesser opponents it hasn't been stellar...

So it appears to be a similar matchup for the Gamecocks as it was with the Razorbacks: USC comes in with a defense that's still solid, but with inconsistency issues particularly in the passing defense, but where the Vols may not be able to effectively capitalize on it. So it's the weakness of UT's offense versus the weakness of USC's defense. UT has the 29th-ranked rushing offense facing the Gamecock's 43rd-ranked rushing defense, and should have an edge there but if (like with Arky) the Vols cannot establish a passing game they could become one-dimensional and struggle to convert on downs and stay on the field. Tennessee does have a much better OL than Arkansas, however...

USC likewise will be bringing in arguably the most balanced offense they've had since joining the SEC into Knoxville, at a time when the Vols' defense is shaky. The big difference between the Vols and the Hogs - and a big advantage for UT as well - is that IMO the Vols have more confidence in their chances due to their close game vs UGA, and the fact that they've had 2 weeks to study USC's weaknesses and devise a game-plan and prepare...

Predictionmachine.com (simulates each game 50,000 times) basically has the Vandy/UGA game as a 50/50. Their stuff has been fairly accurate. They've predicted both of our losses so far.

For our game this week they're predicting Mizzou wins 52% of the time. They pointed out their top 5 home field advantage, pushing tempo and our issues on O as factors to make it interesting. They're predicting Mizzou wins 23-21.

tennessee will be pumped up, but south carolina should put up 30-40 on that bad defense.

SC is a bit beat up at key spots including the OL with 2 starters at the beginning of the year in rough shape for this game. But they do get back a WR from a suspension.

I've heard one so-called expert say they will be looking ahead to Missouri. I don't agree since UT almost beat GA.

The natives are desperate here in Knoxville. They want to build off the moral victory against Georgia. I think SC beats them and covers in a 27-16 type of game.
