All depended on how opportunistic their defense was. Turned out to be quite opportunistic. Only one turnover on each side was really a bonehead play by the QBs.

As a VT fan, I am accustomed to seeing rival teams outgain the Hokies by large margins and leave with a loss. It is not surprising to see this at all. Like you, I do not (and did not) have complete trust and confidence in our offense. Haven't had that since 2009.

VT outgained Alabama this year, but lost 35-10 due to mistakes and special teams play. Beamer was hoisted on his own petard, as that is how he won so many games over the past 20 years.

I did know this: That we had to play a strong game to beat Miami. We played a D game, while Miami played a C+ game, and they beat us.

Better than we are. We have more issues than they do, it seems. Imagine us having their offense with our defense. We'd be 6-0 right now.

It's called pride and passion for their team, much like what you have. Congrats, you won. You should have another win versus Wake Forest before reality sets in against FSU and VT...

Sorry Worm, I refuse to imagine that. I get the puke taste in my mouth just thinking about the scum. Stephen Morris's eyes are so far apart that his cone of vision is nearly 320 degrees.

We had three TOs due to very poor decision making / execution on our part.

    1. Driskel's late pass to the end zone (after he missed a very easy TD pass, so that play never even should have been run).
    2. Burton and Dunbar's poor route combination which drew the CB of Dunbar right into Burton's route and the ball.
    3. Burton's poor ball security on an average tackle.

They forced the Jones fumble with a hit. They forced the Driskel fumble with a hit... although that hit was again due to very poor execution on the OL.

Finally, the 4th down was also poor execution / decision making on our part. Once you call that play, if they have it defended, call a freaking time out, or have an audible to go to if it's defended. Don't just lower your head and pray.

We also missed another easy TD pass we should have thrown, and gave up one when our frosh safety committed the cardinal sin of letting a receiver get over him. Which he promptly got demoted for.

The game was a comedy of errors on our part. Truly.

Because you are a passionate fan who hates Miami. Having watched them every year in the 1980s, I probably hate them more than you do. But their offense is better than ours.

No. Because after that game, they WERE the better team. We were fortunate in having a solar system of planets line up to get retribution.

I guarantee you, if the situation was reversed, and we WON, then we would be the FIRST to say "scoreboard," just as we would be the first to tell any Cane fan to stop whining and making excuses if THEY lost as we did this year. We would say, "No, you didn't give jack away. We TOOK it from you."

There isn't a soul on this board, including me, that would have said, "Gee, we were fortunate to come away with a win. Miami was clearly the better team, but just kept shooting themselves in the foot."

    Not...a...soul.

We dominated them the whole game, its not even debatable. But please go ahead and get on your knees for each and every opponent we play, it seems to be a personal hobby of yours.

As opposed to arrogantly dismissing everyone not Orange and Blue? OK. Be a homer. I'll be a realist...

5 turnovers by the offense and giving up 2 easy TD passes by the defense is not dominating "the whole game." a bunch of yards is not domination.
