Wow. So turnovers don't affect the outcomes of games now?

So a team that is at full strength is just as likely to win as a team that as multiple starters out?

Good teams don't always find ways to win games. Our 96 team was pretty damn good. But when we had multiple starters injured on the OL, f$u beat us. Was that not a good team for us?

miami was just flat and overconfident, expecting an easy win against that terrible team.

I dont know, Miami looked very average. UNC is a very bad team. They are on the level of Kentucky, i actually think UK would beat them.

I don't think Miami is actually especially great. It's unfortunate because we should have beaten them. Oh well. The first half of this season has been kind of a bummer.

Our turnovers were much, much worse. Miami had only a -2 turnover deficit (4 to 2) to UNC, while ours was -4 (5 to 1). Plus 4 of our 5 turnovers were deep in the redzone if I remember correctly.

While we only played that "average at best" Miami team...

Nope. You're making excuses. Miami had four INTs and still won the game. They didn't "give" it away. No difference.

OBOB, you are right; the first half of the season HAS been a bummer. The second half should be much better.

No. Kentucky and Arkansas suck. UNC put 500 yards on Miami's defense, more than any other team this year.

The difference is they were playing a 1-5 team.

    We weren't.

You can make mistakes against a crappy team and still pull out a win. When you do it against a decent, good or great team ... well, you know.

We should have hung at least 40 on the Canes. They were putty in our hands after the first quarter, begging to be blown out.

I will gladly accept a forfeit win when the NCAA finally drops its long-awaited hammer on UM.

Even the harshest penalty handed down would be unlikely to impact the forfeiture of that game.

Nobody has ever argued that we played well against Miami.

    sure it does.

if they ended up losing they could've just said, "well, north carolina didn't beat us, we gave the game the away."

or does that logic only work when we're on the losing end?

We lost because we turned the ball over. They *almost* lost because they turned the ball over.

Of course, they were playing a much crappier team. This shouldn't be that difficult to grasp.

Our wins this year are against horrible teams...

I did not expect to win at L$U...but the Miami game sticks up my A$$!

The next 3-4 games will be telling...

Hopefully the NCAA strips them of all their wins, I wouldn't want that cheap forfeit W, though.

That would appear pretty obvious. But it apparently needed to be pointed out. Good job.

Dunno, OBOB. On this board, all we read was that Miami was "a crappy team" who lost to Virginia three years in a row, as well as that "crappy" North Carolina team.

They were also in the ACC, and you know what THAT means. Kentucky and Tennessee would compete for titles in the All Cupcake Conference.

Before the season started, I said Miami would be a tossup, and that they are much improved. I was laughed at, accused of being a Cane troll (shudder), and a whole lot of other kind things.

They are now 6-0 and will likely crush Wake Forest before playing Miami and Virginia Tech. Yeah, their schedule was weak, but with the exception of LSU, so was ours -- at least by the definitions on the board here...

All true... but if somebody told you before the season that we would double up Miami in yardage and TOP, would you have suggested the game was a toss up (let alone a loss)?
