Honestly I don't think that that has been established.
im so sure it has either. i am sure theres been a huge improvement and i think if we had to score 40+ we could have done it vs tenn, kent, and ark but thats not how the gators play. if they do well in death valley than i believe it can be said that we have an offense that can score consistently. but i need to see it this weekend. i think it can happen but thats why you play the game. where LSU's defense lacks, there crowd help compensate to a degree
I can't make my mind up about this one. Usually I don't do a prediction until later in the week, so I'll restrain from posting one just yet. Right now, I'm leaning toward an LSU win, but I think we are the better overall team. LSU has no defense, but an elite offense. We have a little offense, but an elite defense.
After watching the highlights from last years game, it's remarkable how good Gillislee was in that game. I had completely forgotten already how shifty he was. We certainly are missing that this year.
I'll go with elite defense plus average offense, over elite offense plus average to below average defense.
That's my only concern. Special teams overall have been lacking. Could bite us on the road against "the hat"
Maybe it's the beer but I actually feel pretty good with this game. I felt we would lose against Miami which we did but not this one. Maybe it's the beer who knows. Maybe it's the QB situation and how well Murphy is playing....I dunno.
I'm thinking 20 points is the turning point. If we can hold them to 20 or under, UF will win this one (without more than one turnover).
maybe i'll go get some. yep i'll drink a few for the team!
If this game is played with few TOs or lucky breaks I see it being real close.
This is the BEST post yet...... Pass this on to the staff and players. ALWAYS expect the unexpected with LSU
Turnovers are always one of the most important factors (duh!). But in a game like this one, they will mean soooooo much more. If one team has two or fewer turnovers than the other one, it will be very, very hard for that team to lose.
I definitely agree with your 20 point rule... There will probably be about 40 points scored in this game.
And if it's 40 then the Gators have to get at least 21 of them!
24-21...Gators win it with a long FG as time expires.
If it comes down to that, I don't like our chances. We don't exactly have a veteran kicker.
That will make it all the sweeter when he nails it! :joecool:
I was thinking 45 over/under, and I think the official Vegas odds number is 48, so you and I are pretty much spot on.
Our D is allowing about 9.4 points a game, and I'm giving LSU another 7 points for being at home, so I definitely think we have a chance to win this one without a turnover-fest. Hopefully, our defense will force some TO's by LSU as they haven't faced a defense as good as our's yet this year.
I'm giving them another 7 thinking that they'll score 7 more than we've averaged giving up - on top of the 7 for being at home. That puts them right at 24. I may be in the minority here, but I think we only score 20.
Turn overs because of the crowd?
On its face, LSU's defense has been mediocre at best - looks like teams are hitting their averages (or better) against their defense, so probably around 400 yds for us. Not sure why we wouldn't get into the 20's on them unless it's an issue with turn overs. Or missing field goals?
Not sure we get 400 yards though. The coaches have said that they expect the same physical D as Arkansas (albeit not that great) with LSU. We only managed 355 yards. Yes, those yards yielded 30 points, but it took two very timely, long passing plays to get those points (not to mention the rare pick-six). Maybe one big play against LSU, but I'm not banking on three that yield 21 points. LSU adding a defensive stop in the place of one of those long TD's could make for at least a 10 point swing against LSU.
However, every time I try to analyze a game like this, it never goes as I envision it, which will be awesome for the good guys. :ninja:
