We don't even have to wait that long. We'll know a lot more after the first game.

Against the opening cupcakes in 2012 and 2013 he looked pretty average. If he comes out looking average against Idaho, it is going to be a long season.

Nothing against tweets (actually, I do hate twitter) but a tweet from a reporter who talked to Roper isn't very substantial. What did get my attention and totally turn my head around regarding Driskel was the 20 minute video segment of Roper I sat through yesterday. The takeaway is that Jeff has the skill, is very quickly learning the offense and has as much confidence as any QB he's ever coached. You have to see the video to buy into Coach Roper's conviction. You won't get that in a tweet.

Definitely true that looking average against Idaho would be concerning.

I wouldn't draw too much of a comparison with our openers this year compared to prior years though. The teams we played the last two years were juggernauts compared to the cupcakes we play this year.

We can RUTS the first couple of opponents and not learn too much about our team.

The big thing for Jeff is what goes on in his mind during games when hes seeing looks from teams hes not familiar with. Often see him look off shorter open receivers to see if he can find someone open deeper, I think thats one of the reasons why when he comes back down in his progression to his original look, they are covered, and he still throws it. Touch of his balls is also a major worry for me. I can deal with not hitting every deep bomb Roper calls up, you can win games by just consistently hitting 5-10 yard passes but Driskel has the same issue Colin K. does for the niners in that I dont think he realizes how close his receiver is to him and he fires it full speed at someone 7 yards away, this is where fans blame the WR but you can watch just about any of the top 10-15 passers in the NFL to see that they aren't throwing a 104 mph fast ball on a 7 yard out route, if your ball placement is good, it'll get the job done.

I think the biggest thing Roper will do for Driskel is get him moving in the pocket more, move the OL with him, design plays that have the OL move to the left pulling the D while Driskel bootlegs right. Driskel hasnt looked like he enjoys the concept of sitting in the pocket while at Florida, hes shown flashes at time but overall, wildly inconsistent.

On the flip side to it all, if Nick Marshall, a relatively terrible thrower (the hail mary vs UGA was disgusting, no arm strength) can lead Auburn to the national championship than Driskel is already miles ahead of him as a thrower, its just about Roper putting defenses in a position where they are running around trying to figure out "is it a play action", "is it a bootleg", "did one of the RBs get this ball", "watch the fly sweep" and abusing them off confusion like Malzahn designs his passing game around

We have a te to handle the int stuff too. We have the levels covered now if we can block I think our o will be good enough. Still want to see our dt rotation though! We will always lead with d..

I agree that these are red velvet opponents this year, but it's been years that we have seen crisp clean organic execution on offense!!! We need to see healthy offense, even if it's in a bubble!

Seriously, just can't wait to see a creative offense that can move the ball. It has been so long . . .

Like many I'm just ready to see it in a real game. I'm rooting for Jeff though

It's different when the other team wants to hit you hard as they can and gives you looks on defense that you're own team does not

Not sure if I remember what this "deep ball" thing is. But it sounds promising.

Um - I know what you are saying - but respectfully we don't. Last year Driskel was having his appendix removed, Debose was out for the season, we had a couple starters suspended, and Matt Jones was sick.

This year we are firing on all cylinders.....and instead of a V-8......we have a V-12!

#Gators safety Jabari Gorman said QB @jeffdriskel has not thrown an interception the entire training camp.
