I'm a dad, teenagers that play HS sports and have played on various travel or select teams. I can't say I'm the dad of a D1 athlete but if I were, I just can't see how posting on a site like this could do any good for him. It's a uber sensitive time for the gator football team and coaches are human. Yes I'm saying that backlash could be directed at Kyle for airing dirty laundry. Even the possibility of backlash would keep me from poking around. I get the frustration, I get that our kids are very important to us....but I don't get why it would be talked about on GC. Sure some of these jokers like hearing about it, and they like getting their point proven that muschamp can't evaluate talent, or doesn't promote good competition.

I have been saying I think Townsend doesn't have the leg.. and that Kyle got a quick hook because he dropped a snap, and kicked a couple touchbacks (who the hell doesn't?)

I haven't done the math.. don't really care enough to... but from what I have seen and what little digging I did do, looks like Townsends max kick in the air seems to be around 35 yards, Kyles seems to be closer to 45.

Kyle is kicking better. At least on long punts. If Townsend has better touch, fine, play him on short punts, and Kyle on long punts.

Proud Papa has been here since Kyle got his scholly. Muschamp doesn't seem to mind talking about his kid to the press, why should he not feel ok to air his feelingsunderstanding on a message board?

Edit: Your probably right.. it would probably be better not to air dirty laundry..

From MY recollection, that's just not the case. Kyle has been stinking up the field all year long. Townsend, while not better than Kyle v. 2012, is certainly better than v. 2013.

Feel free to do the math, like I said, I don't care enough to do more than the little digging I did today.

In SC game, Townsend was kicking the ball about 35 yards in the air.

In Miami Kyle was kicking it around 45 yards in the air.

He has never gone overboard in my eyes. He's perfectly within his right to question the staff though. Lord knows this whole place, including myself, have done our fair share of airing words towards them.

My intent isn't to rag on him, ( I know your not saying that) but how many players fathers openly discuss stuff like this in an on line forum? My guess it's very few. Maybe as little as 1.

Kyle needs all the noise shut out. I'm just saying that whatever is going on wth him is more mental than physical, we know he can flat out punt. I watch the kickers and qbs in warm ups. Last week at USC Kyle kicked one almost sideways into the field goal net. And he was kicking from sideline to sideline. Now that's one kick but a few others were really bad. I would just shut out all the noise. If I'm in Kyles shoes I would ask him to stay off GC. It just opens the door for negative perception...papa has the absolute right to do what he wants....

What I think is interesting is I was sitting in the stands for the Ole Miss game in 2003, the guy next to me keeps making hand gestures and signaling down to the punter. He was going through some motions and the punter was looking back up and acknowledging the advice.

I asked him how he knew the punter and of course it turned out that it was Eric Wilbur's Dad. I don't have an exact quote, but basically I remember him not being happy with the coaching that he was getting and was trying to help coach him himself during the game. I was actually a little blown away that this was going on at a such a big program, let alone at UF.

Of course, it was Zook at the time, and we all know where that went --- and then how solid of a player Wibur became for the 06 title team.

I tend to lean to the idea of this being a coaching issue and no coach on staff having good specialty knowledge when it comes to kicking. The kicker and punters all have talent but all have stuggled. I think they should definitely look at bringing in consultant or changing the one they have.

Gotta say ... Kyle looked better in pregame today. Looked like he popped a 55 and 60 yarder ... beautiful ball flight. Yes, its pregame but just sayin.

Bama football staff has 31 listed, including 8 football "analysts". I wonder if any of these are kicking specialist types.
