Not so much on the Jimmy Johns but the La Familia has me missing G'ville. Though there are some damn fine Cubans down here in St. Petersburg. (I don't go to Tampa ever, not even for the Cubans)

I have been going to La Familia since Terry opened, he has been driving back and forth from Tampa the whole dime since the late 80's. He makes the same sandwich you get at The Silver Ring Cafe in the Tampa area. Great sandwich and an even nicer guy.

Traditional/National Fast Food - Chick-fil-A or 5 Guys, but just "fast" food, Country Dough in Pike Place Market.

edit: although after reading the yelp reviews for Country Dough I'm not sure it's the same place it was the last time I went there before they closed for remodeling.

Oh! Mine, 2. blocks away, is a nice one, with about a 5 minute drive-thru time with a line of 4 - 5 cars.

    It is!

I actually can go inside, sit and relax and have a waitress take care of me!

I can have my burgers, or whatever, and THEN order a shake afterwards for dessert!

Chick-fil-A for chicken sandwiches, 5 Guys for burgers, and Firehouse for subs. Not sure whether it qualifies as fast food, we also like a local chain that specializes in Peruvian charcoal roasted chicken.

Some American fast food chains we don't have in Canada that I love:

Chick-Fil-A. Incredible. I eat there as often as possible. I ate at the one on the UF campus 4 times in one day the first time I visited Gainesville a few years ago. Simply in a league of it's own.

Steak and Shake. My last time in Florida me and my wife ate there a ton. I had this garlic burger that was absurdly good and got it on multiple visit. Great fry options and my wife loves the milkshakes.

Toss up. Sonic, Wendy's or Steak & Shake.

Locally, Piesano's pizza and several pasta dishes.

My favorites here are the hundreds of taqueriashotdog stands and Chicago beef sandwich joints here. Of the local chains I like Al's Beef, Buoena Beef, Portillos and Taco Burrito King. My kids went to high school with the heir to the Taco Burrito King empire. They called him the Taco Burrito Prince.

Of national chains, I like Potbelly, Five Guys, Culver's and Panera. I'm okay with Jimmy John's. Just saw a Firehouse three or four miles west of where I live. I'll have to check that out.
