Saw this on Espn earlier. What the hell?!? Their security consists of one middle aged man? This could have gotten really ugly. They dodged a PR nightmare. Props to the players for not doing anything crazy to him.

What the hell is wrong with that fan? What sort of bravado do you have as someone simply WATCHING the game to confront a coach?

What an idiot. Like the coach said it's rare, but if the recent trend continues, basketball may end up like hockey with a barrier all around the court. You'd think the schools could afford to have more security personnel to surround the courts.

I think the UCSB fan was telling the Hawaii coaching staff that he didn't like their tropical shirts. ;)

Odd. I've always wondered how long it would take U.S. sports to match the raucous international football fanhood. Getting closer...

Part of that fan's punishment should be to wear a sign around his neck for one week that says something like:

"I am a childish immature punk"

    or something like that.

Take a page out of baseball's approach.

Step 1: Turn cameras away from "fan"
Step 2: Place a security guard or two on court and allow them to beat the sh!t out of the "fan" under the guise of constraint.
Step 3: Don't put it on ESPN.

It will stop quickly as this is nothing but naive young adults thinking they're cool and getting airplay. Remove incentive and inflict punishment - behavior will change.

    Follow up,

Allow the first few "constraint attempts" to be filmed and aired live and rebroadcast on news outlets. Just so it's clear what happens when you do this?

I mean, who wouldn't love to see that 150# kid leveled by a 220# security guard.

    Imagine this on hard wood:

Yeah that was my first thought. Putting it on sportscenter sure encourages some copycats.

Yeah, he looked like he was high on something. Notice how none of the other fans gave him any high fives or anything...they just looked at him like, "Dude, you're such a dumbass." :D
