    Yeah, really Bill. Every winter there is a problem with strawberry farmers and homeowners over taking water out of the ground. This is not the first incidence of sinkholes in the area.

    Lots of agricultural water well pumping prior to and during a freeze pulls the aquifer levels down, producing downward drainage of the shallow water table and thus triggering the development of sinkholes.
