LOL. The argument is that Billy is from NY? Well he is a long time removed from NY. Or maybe he hungers to go back and feed his money to the dingbat Mayor of NYC, or whoever the money grabber happens to be in Albany.

Maybe he is tired of teaching basketball, and just wants to play therapist to a bunch of overpaid egos. Or maybe he wants to sit at the feet of the Guru and be lectured by Phil Jackson.

Who knows? But, I don't see it.

I don't see Billy D going anywhere unless The Knicks wait an entire year to hire him. Last time I checked his son is on the team and I am pretty sure he has at least one more year. I am sorry but Billy is all about the family and I just can't see him leaving his son.

Billy Donovan is not Urban Meyer.

    'nuff said.

Billy has accomplished what he has done at a football school. Spurrier accomplished what he did at a swimming/golf school.

It wasn't a segue, they were talking about Jackson and the Knicks and Billy's name came out with some others in reference to who he might want as a coach. Total speculation. Why do they even bring his name up after the Orlando fiasco?

The important question is...was Carmelo informed and consulted?

He can get his itch with coaching the pros by coaching the USA National Team when K finally gives it up after 2016. This summer will be Billy's 3rd straight year coaching either the U18 or U19 teams. It certainly appears Jerry Colangelo, Coach K, and USA basketball are grooming Billy for something in the near future.

That's what it is, but obviously fans are super sensitive about any suggestion of their successful coach - be it a guess, a rumor, etc.

Tinfoil hat Question, if Florida wasn't doing so well would they have said anything this year?

Coaching the Knicks is worse than coaching any college team. They are the Washington Redskins of basketball. Billy's style won't work in the league of me-only egos. Calapari would make it in the NBA, but not Billy.

Seriously? A thread about the sports reporters throwing junk on the wall and discussing it like it's a credible report?

The show and Bob Ryan are flattered for anyone taking them seriously

This is exactly right, and what will probably lead Billy to the NBA one day.
I hope that day is not for a long time, but I have little doubt that he will try it.

I think that time will coincide with whenever Foley retires or moves on. He and Billy have a very, very strong relationship.

Coaches don't coach in the NBA. They stand on the sidelines in suits.

The players do what they want to.

Silly ESPN, it's a one way street to Florida for New Yorkers.

If choosing between NYC and UF, He will pick the location with the most NBA talent. Next year, that will be Gainesville. ;)

...also, even if it was about money, $4M in Gainesville goes a lot further than $6M in NYC probably does.

Won't ever happen. Unless he changes his coaching style. He would be trading recruiting and player development for a team full of egos and salary caps. No way would get a team willing to put aside personal numbers for a team-oriented atmosphere.
