But at least he will attempt to be fair.
Hopefully, he will take the same ESPN path that Urban Meyer did. That is, work there briefly, keep your name in circulation and eventually return to the game.
If not, good luck to him on the ESPN gig. Seems like he is too nice tho to be a real analyst.
He may not be the most articulate, but he knows how to speak to crowds. I think he'll be fine. If they've kept Desmond Howard this long, Tim should be ok. Lol
This reminds me of the threads about who is an NFL QB but Tim isn't. However, ESPN will give him plenty of assistance. The only question is will he want to play a part rather than be himself. But his celebrity status should keep people tuned in. JMHO
Next stop Dancing with the Stars
Stephan a is actually very good
Is this a joke? All he does is scream about nothing. He's in the top 3 most annoying talking heads employed by Espn. It's like he's always angry about something.
Congrats to him, but this was old news. I called it weeks ago when it was mentioned the SEC network wanted their own version of the ESPN Gameday crew.
Yeah, but wasn't there a bidding war on him? (CBS, Espn, fox) This thread tells us who won. (;
Sure was fun to see Tim play a team into the playoffs. With every team trying to play seven on seven flag football, it was nice to see a team led to winning instead of big passing stats while losing.
That is why I prefer college ball as you can run any O you want which makes the matchups more interesting.
Wonder what happens if he runs into Merrill Hoge in the ESPN cafeteria. Just saying.
Tim will be a class act as usual even if hodge doesn't deserve it.
Hopefully he takes a Hoge in Merrill's coffee.
To me, all of the blather is about finding a persona that plays to the audience. Merrill saw Tim as a way to keep relevant. I am pretty sure that Steven A was told to be edgy to keep the young AA's males tuned in and they came up with the "point/counterpoint" thing with Skip Bayless. I have always said that I don't have a problem with any of them deriding Tim as an NFL QB but at least have the decency to write his foundation a check for the amount of viewership they get for their "take." McShay is just a silly exercise to get someone to take over for Kiper. He looks and sounds like a college intern.
I think Tim should use some of his real life experiences injected (ouch) into his football shtick (what). Like this game is like circumcision surgery, you got to have someone like me peel it back for you in order to see the true story.
Paul: "Well Bama is really stinking up the field again their fans better start praying."
Tim: "God bless you Mr. Finebaum."
Paul: "Shut up Timmy."
Tim: "Yes sir."
Paul: "The Gators have this championship game locked up."
good luck to him but I would rather see a guy like Kevin Carter who has put in his time for the last couple of years doing regional work and learning his craft get his shot on a bigger stage.
Not to engage the Kevin Carter vs. Tim debate, but Kevin does a great job.
Well spoken yes, but I wonder if he can be critical should the need arise.
Tim didn't say he was going to take a leave of absence from football to spend more time with his family, so it's a different path.
