The whole situation should have been avoided.

No, I lost that damned thing and I can't find it. But, the shut down is slowing the Cap & Trade BS that Obama wants.

I hope not too. Environmental regulations are important unless they get to the point where they become nothing more than a tool used by government in a way to generate excess revenue.

Cap and trade is nothing of the sort. You must be thinking of the carbon tax. Cap and trade was a Republican idea that worked wonders in cleaning the NOx and SOx pollution. It can work wonders in reducing CO2.

We'd all be much better off without the EPA - let's put lead back in paint, DDT back in pesticides, lift restrictions on mercury, air pollution, water pollution, fracking, and everything else we can think of. At least our three-headed, intellectualy disabled offspring will all have jobs (if we can only get rid of the minimum wage while we're at it).

We can win the race with China to destroy the world environment if we really try.

No, the Cap & Trade was voted down and never became law. You're thinking of some other regulation/bill/law.
