Man, what looked like a promising spring for Lady Gators sports has turned for the worse since the gymnastics title (we won't talk about the men's side, which has been more disappointing). I really expected more in the NCAAs from both tennis and lacrosse (especially lacrosse, with such an experienced team). Lady Gator golf looked good in the regionals, but clearly are faltering now. T&F doesn't have the horses for a win, so I guess we hang our remaining hopes on softball. Got to give softball so much credit for what they'd done this year. Great job by Walton and his newcomers.

Will be interesting to see if lacrosse and tennis are able to rebuild next year....and if women's golf can get some consistency.

I believe 27 total Gators qualified for Eugene in T&F. 15 or 16 of them being from the Girls team. A record for UF. Seems pretty good to me.

It is hard to replace Lacaze, Demps, Rainey and McQuay.

Yeah, if this season in Gator sports has been a whimper, I'll take it every time.

Yeah, I don't really understand this either. Not many schools can compete for titles in pretty much every sport like we have. National titles aren't easy to come by...and our tennis team lost to the national champions. FWIW, our softball team isn't the best team in the country so don't expect a natty in that.

If some expect a NC every season in every sport odds are they will be disappointed a vast majority of the time... This softball team has far exceeded everyone's expectations coming in, unless the OP had them as his/her preseason #1?

I would trade our first Gymnastics National Title for sucking in every other women's sport.

Fortunately we didn't have to, a few strong seasons (LAX, Tennis) & Softball isn't done. We were pretty strong in a number of others as well.

Don't get the OP at all.

I think a lot of people enter the late spring with visions of winning NCs in 7 or 8 sports, and then when it turns out to be just 1 or 2, they forget how incredibly rare and precious those 1 or 2 are, and only focus on the half dozen NCs that didn't happen.

It would be like going to the SI Swimsuit edition release party, spending a wild hedonistic night with the cover girl and even another top model at the same time, and going home feeling like crap because you didn't get to spend the night with all the rest of the models the same night.

We won SEC titles in three women sports; tennis, softball, volleyball and the best for last gymnastics, which we won a national championship.

I think you nailed it. The possibility of winning a title in some many sports somehow translates to disappointment when not all of the attain the championship. You just can't look at things that way. I always look for UF to get one title every year, and then anything after that is gravy. And I'm not even sure my expectation of one title every year is truly reasonable, so many factors can prevent it.
IMO you just have to look at the big picture for all the programs, not just getting the title for a given year. And UF's programs all all in a pretty good place with the arguable exception of the golf programs and womens hoops being somewhat mediocre (by UF's high standards.

I can't see why anyone would want to trade places with any other fan/alum of another school when it comes to athletics.

Outside of two months (late June-Mid August) when nothing is going on, there is a valid reason to watch Gator sports 24/7. I wish I had more time to do so.

Hey! The men's track team and the Texas A&M team just tied for the National Championship today (I'm on CST). Do you consider that a whimper.......or a shout?
