Not to nitpick, but I don't think I've ever seen a sports journalist state "a source I believe in informs me that ______" or "I know that _____ documents have been sent to the NCAA by [insert player]." Generally, a reporter stating that he was "told" something when breaking a given bit of news implies that he trusts the veracity of the source (though to be fair, the inaccuracy rates of such sports reports from "sources" naturally results in skepticism)

    Consider these two statements:

Goodman: "Was told he sent in his paperwork recently"

Goodman and Katz: "Texas Longhorns' leading returning scorer, Ionnis Papapetrou, has signed a lucrative deal to play overseas with Olympiacos BC, a source confirmed to ESPN.com."

Those seem a bit different to me.

So they lose Papa & Kabongo? That's tough to overcome this late in the cycle!

So...assuming Carter is eligible on the first day this season, and Wilbekin will be watching on TV, does he get the start at shooting guard? He poured in almost 15 points a game last season at Rutgers.

I'd guess either Carter or Frazier.

I find this a very complex and fluid dilemma. On the one hand, if Wilbekin is out for any length of time, then we will likely depend upon Carter as the backup to Hill, but with no experience in our system he will need to devote himself to that position at first. On the other hand, when Wilbekin comes back he won't need to play the one at all. How do you manage that?

Don't forget about Jr. More than capable backup now. He can provide some quality minutes.

Tubby's kid (Saul?) was a starter. It's a big difference. Billy Jr. could be an effective backup at the point for 5 minutes each half. As I recall, he played a solid game against UF when BD took the team up there.

I'd be surprised if Jnr. saw meaningful minutes. Yes, he played well when Catholic U. visted the O'dome, but I think he is buried pretty deep, and behind some very good players. But yeah... the Carter/wilby situation could move him into such a role for a few weeks. It is an odd dilemma in terms of what to do with an eligible Carter.
I suspect Hoopstar has some solid intel.

I read this morning that BD is not yet sure that, even if Eli's waiver is granted, he'll be physically ready to play. His broken leg from last season is still not 100% apparently.

Will Yeguete (sp?) may not be ready either.

Eli gained 20 pounds when his leg was broken. He'll have to shed those 20 to be ready to play at the level Billy wants him to play. Figure he will increase minutes as the season goes but don't expect a lot of minutes from him in November.

Yeguete is being brought along slowly. He's had injuries the last two seasons and they are trying not to rush him back. When I saw him in June, Yeguete told me that he expected to be ready right about the time practice starts in October.

Glad to hear that Will Yeguete is being brought around slowly. I'd love to see him fully healed before the pounding of basketball starts in on him again. We really missed him when he was out the last two seasons.

If it was a matter of Will missing time in the early part of the season in order to up the chances of him playing later on I would be all for this.
