WILD RACING OPENS ELDORA’S DREAM WEEKEND

    http://www.eldoraspeedway.com/2013/06/07/wild-racing-opens-eldoras-dream-weekend/

ROSSBURG, OH – June 6, 2013 – Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., and Matt Miller of Whitehouse, Ohio, kicked off the new expanded Dirt Late Model Dream XIX Presented by Ferris Commercial Mowers weekend with victories in Thursday night’s Twin 25-lap features at Eldora Speedway.

With the DIRTcar UMP-sanctioned event’s 84-car field split in half by time-trial results, Richards captured the frenetic first A-Main for odd-numbered qualifiers and Miller soared to the checkered flag in the nightcap reserved for even-numbered qualifiers.

The victory gave Richards high hopes of enjoying an even greater celebration after Saturday night’s 100-lap Dream A-Main, which boasts a $100,000 winner’s purse. The current World of Outlaws Late Model Series points leader has made five Dream 100 starts since 2005 with a top finish of sixth in 2010.

The Dream XIX by Ferris weekend continues on Friday night (June 7) with a second preliminary night of competition. Time trials will again split the field into two groups for heat races, B-Mains and 25-lap features that will pay $5,000 to win.

The complete race from turn 3, watching Kyle Larson. BTW, Larson went from Ohio to N.H. and is in the Nascar Nationwide race today. Quite the adjustment behind the wheel.

    Entry List

    Length: 150 laps/60-50-40 lap segments/75 miles
Goodyear makes 10" wide dirt modified tire into 11" wide Eldora truck tire.
Bloomquist says he will win in Kyle Busch's #51 truck.
Dillon brothers are fastest 1-2 in second practice.
Kyle Larson led the first practice which was 2 seconds per lap faster than second practice session.
The Blaney family is fast. Dave & son Ryan were 2nd & 3rd in Brad Keselowski trucks.
Brendan Gaughan is fast, maybe because he is used to his truck always sliding around.
Kenny Wallace in the Jeg's #81 will be my darkhorse.

The last time a major NASCAR touring series raced on dirt was Sept. 30, 1970 at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, a half-mile oval in Raleigh.
That 1970 race, featuring a 23-car field, was won by Richard Petty, the only driver to finish on the lead lap. The announced attendance was 6,000, many of whom figured they were watching the end NASCAR's dirt-racing era.
Eldora has nearly 18,000 seats plus hillside viewing, located in Rossburg, Ohio.

Ken Schrader wins the first heat leading every lap. IDK how the P2 goes to LCQ and P7 goes in the main.
He called out to David Stremme on the radio "Awesome job spotter. Kept me out of trouble the whole race." LOL

Terrific racing. The only way it could have been better is if the bottom would have grooved in. They looked fast on tv, but they are 19-20 seconds a lap. Outlaw sprints ran 13.2 last time there. Still a great show, Schrader & Wallace winning heats was fun. Dillon handled his business and drove near perfect on what little cushion there was on the wall. He earned lots of respect winning a big race at Eldora. The DRIVER factor is higher than anywhere else in long dirt races at Eldora. Makes it even more confusing what was Bloomer thinking when he took off a sway bar? I heard Larson say how much heavier the trucks were than any other race car he's had. He went from 13th straight to the front in the first segment. Lapped 10 of the 30 trucks in the race. He finished 2nd and Ryan Newman said he was mailing him the left side of his truck. They were door to door sparks flying on dirt. Teammates in the race hanging it out like drifters around the turns. Nascar is privileged to run this track. Tony did some work putting it together and the tv was cool with drivers visiting the Hollywood Hotel.

In keeping up with the Earl Baltes established tradition of adding $1,000 to the winner’s payoff each year, the 2013 run for the cherished globed trophy will pay $46,000 to win and $2,000 to start. Two positions will also be added to the century grind to allow for 32 starters; boosting the posted awards to over $283,000 for the weekend.
85 entries so far. Fans start camping tomorrow, what a week.

In 2013, the World 100 will expand to separate three-day shows with a full racing program each night.

Thursday will kickoff the weekend with a complete multi-event Time Trials, Heat Race, B-Features and Twin 25's (each starting 24 cars) event.

Friday night will also feature the same complete multi-event Time Trials, Heat Race, B-Features and Twin 25's (each starting 24 cars) event.

Saturday remains classic Eldora with the traditional electric atmosphere building up to the 7 p.m. start time and six inverted Heat Races taking the green on a fresh race track and advancing just three drivers to the Feature race. The drivers get one more shot in the Last Chance Features and then, the moment we have all been waiting for, the legendary 100-lap Championship Events.

    1) What are your overall thoughts on the new 3-day event format at the Dream and World 100?
    2) Are your fans excited about the changes and the opportunity to see you race more?
    3) what does the addition of Thursday and Friday racing mean to you and your team?

In a three-part video series, we will present their reaction.
