Well then he was spot on. The hypocrisy of conservatives whining about govt. handouts while at the same time receiving them is annoying. I won't deny it.

"This will be an interesting mess to watch. Continuing to hammer the little guy and small business owner...

These really are expected consequences of things like this!"

And as my comments in the OP imply...

    I am fine with it!

I personally have mixed feelings about government (state/local) breaks for businesses.

That said you completely ignored my question. Maybe the incentives are bringing more to Louisians than you think...

You only mind the handouts if they go to people who don't favor all the handouts you support.

Unless the Duck Dynasty guys themselves where whining about govt handouts I don't get your point. Maybe they have, I've honestly never watched a second of the show.

It's the producers who get the subsidy, so apparently they were whining about handouts. I don't know the specifics either.

    Interesting you make that remark.....

Regardless of the reason, Louisiana is sure attracting lots of cameras and actors. Something is going right for them whether fastsix wants to bitch about it or not. ;)

They are absolutely bringing a ton of movies in, but if you go back to the original post, that's not the issue. Their own studies say that they only getting back 15 cents on the dollar from the tax credit. So essentially they are giving money to large wealthy companies with none of the benefits for the state those subsidies are supposed to produce.
But they are on the Tellie!

It's a smart move and totally legal. Maybe they should change the funding law.

State tax credits don't by them selves don 't cost the state any money. By their own study it says they get 15 cents for every dollar credit. That is 15 cents more than they would have received if the show was made in California.

Obama would call that an "investment" like he did his green energy projects. He would be ecstatic. Anyone believe we only lost 85% of our money on all the solar loans? He's so shrewd. Loan that money to people who would raise more for him next election. Or structure a "stimulus" to fund money to unions who would in turn give it back to him. Such a financier....with our money.

So you think those in the entertainment industry are 'conservative'. What %? Now it is true that probably more hunters/fisherman/outdoorsmen watch shows like Duck Dynasty, and granted probably none of them would vote for a liberal. But who do you think watches all the decorating and floral design shows? Who watches the voice, Idol, housewives and Jersey Shore? Hint- It ain't the hunters and fisherman. Its the gays, girls and girly men. And I would guess states/cities where some of those girly shows are filmed, also offer incentives. Perhaps the publicity pays off...I would not know.

North Carolina does this. We have a top 5 state for tv and movie production because of it. I know people whose entire business is based on serving the film industry. It trickles down further than you think.

By the way...handouts to hollywood hardly aid some conservative cause...it seems thats the OPs attempt at a point.

I don't really watch any reality TV shows. I DVR The Ultimate Fighter and watch the fights, but none of the "drama". I'll watch COPS if I'm bored, but that's about it for reality shows these days. Shows like Duck Dynasty and The Kardashians aren't my type of TV.
