Its sad that we call weed a drug.. Its a freakin natural plant and safer than REAL drugs that they will sell to anyone over the counter... Sorry, it had to be said.

They should swab professional athletes only when it comes to drug testing. Other than than it should be no one's business.

be that as it may, it's still against NBA rules...even if they legalize it in his state.

Yeah but ciggs and alcohol are legal and more dangerous/deadly than weed ever will be. If our government didn't have this misguided war on weed, we wouldn't be having this "problem". Still, you're right its against NBA rules so what I just said doesn't matter at all.

haha based on the article I think you're right. the joints were 'suspected' to be marijuana. If you can't tell, it's not any good.

I hear what you are saying. I just get tired of these athletes being paid millions of dollars and they can't stay away from certain things they know are against the rules and damaging to their career.

I don't even care if they stay away. Just be smart and don't smoke in your car.

Hell, you got that much money, you don't need to ever be in public with it in your possession.

Two felonies for three cigarettes? Athlete or not that is ridiculous for such a small amount of weed.

Thats our governments war on weed for you. Let killers go with shorter sentences only to crack down on the burning of natural plants. SMH, I could go on but it would have to go to Too Hot, so I'll quit now.

Preach on brother. "Run From the Cure" is one of the best YouTube documentaries out there.

Athletes should never get busted for stuff like this, though. With all of that money, why chance it. Or why not invest in one of the Vape Pens they sell that doesn't give off smoke or odor if you can't be without when you're not at your own home? Dumb!

It really isn't about whether or not you think weed should be legal. It's against the rules of the NBA. If they decided to ban coffee, then these idiots shouldn't drink coffee. It's that simple.

Agree'd. It truly is simple, you can argue about weed until you're blue in ths face, doesn't matter, the rules and laws are still there. If someone offers to pay me the money they make, I'd be willing to give up a lot more than weed.

C'mon... You can't possibly be suggesting that adults should be responsible for the decisions they make and should keep from breaking rules they agreed to upon entering into the league!?!?

The way Beasley toyed with the competition when he was in college ("like a man among boys"), I too thought he'd be a great NBA player. I think the talent is there, but not the mentality.

Regarding weed, I wonder how many industries would (continue to) ban its use if it were as legal as alcohol?

I suppose it could be a problem, for example, for airline pilots in that detection of weed is not as straightforward as alcohol (I understand that weed stays detectable in your system (for weeks?) long after the high is gone).

But, for the NBA? Is weed considered a performance enhancer in the sports world? Otherwise, who would care if it were legal (as it is here in Washington)?

Dumb law. Dumb the way the NBA treats it, but players should be more discreet than that. If you're going to partake, to it at home. Why do people have to drive around in their cars smoking a fatty? Well, I did it in high school because I couldn't smoke it at home. These guys have multi-million dollar cribs where nobody will bother them. I guess it's not as cool as riding around in your tacky, pimped out SUV with one arm out the window holding a joint.

If there's anything the NBA needs to crack down on more, it's bad taste. Somebody please teach these guys how to dress. Teach them some basics about architecture. Would it hurt to drive a six-figure car in a normal color without blacked out windows and spinners. Can't tell you how many retired professional athletes in Chicago have had gone underwater trying to sell their butt-ugly, macho McMansions in elegant communities like Highland Park, Winnetka and Glencoe.
