Driskel needs to take some notes from Alex Smith. Nothing flashy. Great game manager. Although I would like to see Driskel take off sometimes on designed passing plays. I don't know if it is the coaches forcing him to stay in the pocket, or his choice, but Driskel is at his best when he can take off once in awhile.

Yeah, because that Broncos defense had nothing to do with that playoff run. Zero. They didn't keep the games close at all.

Batting average is terrible. Not as bad as TOP but terrible nonetheless.

And yes "new" does not mean better guaranteed. However there are good new stats that do predict and or correlate well to performance and or wins. The revolution is happening across all sports.

The Broncos finished 20th in total defense that year. What won the games was Tebow' s 4th quarter QBR, which was mind-boggling.

And if you add a couple more, Driskel's numbers would be a lot worse! :dracula:

And QBR has never been demonstrated to do that, which is sort of my point.

Driskell will be fine. He made some silly, careless mistakes, but did any of you watch Eli on Sunday, and he's a 2 time Super Bowl winner, and has thrown more interceptions in the NFL since he's been there.

But the thing is, the turnovers are looking to be a trend. His overall turnover ratio was low last year, mainly because we didnt ask him to do much. When we opened it up for some games (UGA, Louisville, Miami), he started turning the ball over at a higher ratio.

I was hoping that Driskel would have developed this season more than he has at this point. I know he is closer to the receivers with his passes than he was last season but there are some I just shake my head at. We can't have that with the style of play we are use.

And the other offensive players were just spectators on the sideline, watching Tim with shock and awe do it all by hisself...

Assuming this qualifies as a "trend", then the good thing about trends is that they end and are often useless when it comes to predicting the future.

I think this is precisely why the normally employed phrase is "if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle."

He didn't have problems with it against UT or FSU last year. I guess I don't see the whole alarm here because those games were entirely different. Against UGA, it was the pressure that forced him into some bad throws and we were behind to boot. Against Louisville, the opening INT was due to a wrong route, then the others came when we were also playing from behind. Against Miami, one was a bad route by Burton in the redzone.

Maybe the common thread for me is not so much "opening it up" as playing from behind. That just isn't going to be Driskel's strength, as it isn't for many quarterbacks.

291 yards, great. 1 to 1 TD to INT ratio? Not so great. He RARELY hits guys in stride. The one long pass in the first half he completed vs Miami was nothing short of miraculous. Patton had to make an unbelievable catch. Not sure I see "it" with JD, yet.
