…are going to do a fun thing this weekend, though not in the same place. Sit down for a big, early dinner, then go to synagogue for three hours tonight, come home and go to sleep without a snack or dessert. No TV or computer either. Wake up tomorrow morning, eat no breakfast, perhaps not even brush teeth, then sit in synagogue for four or five hours. Go home, continue fasting, take a nap, then go back to services for two or three more hours. The final service ends at sundown, when it's finally okay to eat, so we head over to the home of a friend who is hosting a break-fast and stuff our faces. I don't know if Drew is quite as observant as that, though he did attend a Jewish day school. (Good thing there's no game tomorrow.) This fun thing is called Yom Kippur. You should try it sometimes. Just kidding. It's only for Jews and other masochists. Good Yontif to all the pubsters from the tribe. Shabbat shalom as well. A restful weekend to everyone else. I'll be back tomorrow night or Sunday morning. This Yid is off the grid.
