Though I thought Finney-Smith was expected to be part of the early depletion, here is an except:

By early depletion...you mean, you thought Dorian was hurt?

Btw, why do we continue to see freshly dated articles that say Scottie is still suspended?
And how bad is Patric Young still hurting?

Finney-Smith, Harris and Prather are rumored to be facing suspensions too.

You are right national media outlets often are behind the curve on the team someone follows. They "cover" all teams, so the fans of a particular team always know more about it than them.

    Oh....got ya.
Someone mentioned on an earlier thread that these 3 suspensions might be 'rotated'.
Was that just wishful thinking or a real likelihood?
Seems like we need more BIG guys early on to handle Wisconsin.
Esp if Yeguete and Young are gimpy.

I would be surprised to see Billy do that. He is typically pretty timely when sending a needed message, and it often centers around hurting the team. I suspect all 3 will be suspended simultaneously. . . and part of the pain may be watching their short-handed teammates struggle. This is all conjecture, but it seems in keeping with Billy's approach.

Maybe, if the suspensions are for the no press coverage scrimmage with officials against another program's team, the exhibition game and the opener against UNF. I doubt very seriously that Donovan takes a non-competitive team up to Wisconsin. UF owes it to Wisconsin to bring a credible team up there and Wisconsin would be rightly upset if UF went up there with a depleted team.

There is a difference between not being "credible" or being "non-competitive" and being "depleted." I hardly look at a starting unit of Hill, Frazier, Graham or D. Walker, Yeguete, and Young as not "credible" or as "non-competitive," especially if Carter is able to play by then. It has no depth, sure, but it has plenty of talent and some decent experience.

Why the team they brought down here wasn't competitive :)

But Yeguete is not cleared to play either and D.Walker is rumored to be redshirting this year. So if the squad UF takes to Wisconsin is:

    PG: Hill, Donovan Jr.
    SG: Frazier
    SF: Graham
    PF: Kurtz
    C: Young,

then UF would be taking a non-credible team to Wisconsin. I do see your point if the team is:

    PG: Hill, Donovan
    SG: Frazier, Carter
    SF: D. Walker, Graham
    PF: Yeguete, Kurtz
    C: Young,

it would be weakened, but I guess maybe credible.

I don't see a world in which Yeguete isn't cleared to play. Unlike Carter, I haven't even heard anything about him definitively not being ready to open practice. Carter is a different story, so hopefully we get him ready by then. Also, while I know some have insisted D. Walker gets a shirt (which would be a nice idea for him), with an outside possibility that C. Walker might not make it to campus, I can't imagine us holding him out when we might need the depth should we get hit with any other injuries later in the year.

He was great at Providence, but is getting older now and I don't think he has any eligibility remaining.

I disagree. Donovan owes it to his program to do what is in the best interest of his program . . . Even if that includes disciplinary action.

If it puts the non-suspended players at risk of injury, including those only recently cleared medically after coming off significant injuries, he will do what he needs to do to make sure we have enough bodies.

Agreed. And your example would one of Billy doing what is in the best interest of his program. I was disputing the suggestion that Billy is going to adjust his actions out of some perceived obligation to Wisconsin. That will not happen.

while he is cleared to play, coming off of surgery, I hope Patric will be ready to play major minutes early in the season, particularly if we have no size coming off the bench

Depleted or not, any team that can field a starting lineup that includes Patric Young, Kasey Hill, and Mike Frasier IIIII, has a chance of winning. And don't write off either Graham or D Walker...let's see if they make the sophomore jump.
